I know they exist in Seoul but I don't remember where. Can anyone direct me to some big English bookstores for teachers? I'm pretty sure one is somewhere in Jongno.... Directions that include subway stops and subway exit numbers would be great -- or if that's impossible, major landmarks work too. Please give all directions as if you're speaking to a complete moron because when it comes to finding places that's pretty much what I am.
Thanks so much!!!! |

Is Kim & Johnsons's such a store? (just trying the useless search function again -- but I'm not clear on what Kim & Johnson's is exactly). If so, how can I find it?
And uh.... BUMP. |

There are at least 4 English bookstores that have ESL materials in the Chongno area
-Kyobo Bookstore
-A small bookstore located about half-way between Chongak Station and Kwangwamun Station. On the side of the street away from Namsan Mt.
-Youngpoongs's Bookstore (sp?) located in the Chongak subway station, on the Namsan Mt. side of the tracks
-Another bookstore (Bandi and Luni?) in the Chongak station, connected to the Millenium Building. |

If you contact the publishers directly and let them you that you are a teacher, they should often send "sample" copies. It takes a few weeks and you'll probably have to have them sent to your school but they're free. |

Thank you for the tip! I'm actually looking for stuff to use in an open class on Friday, but good idea for the future. |

English+ (English Plus) is the store between Jong-gak and Kwanghwamun; it's a chain dedicated to English teaching textbooks and materials.
There is also a branch of this chain in Pusan's Nampodong. The one in Pusan is on that main drag kind of by the escalators that take you up to Yongdusan Park. Actually, I guess it's not the "main"drag--that six lane road way, but it's on that other main drag (the one-way, one lane road that's filled with pedestrians).
Kim & Johnson's (www.helloknj.com--maybe), is probably by far the best English language teaching materials bookstore in this country. There is a branch outside of Kangnam station. You'd have to call them to get specific directions. Check the website for the phone number. |
