Just saw the Swiss guy score the first goal with his head. It seems like the Korean goalkeeper should've been able to block that one. He didn't even move. Apparently caught by surprise.
I don't know anything about soccer, but.. it seems the Swiss team is much better than Korea's. The Korean team can barely get the ball near the Swiss goal, and when they do it's gona really fast. At one point, one of the Korean guys with the ball couldn't even get around a referee who was just standing there. The referee stole the ball by doing absolutely nothing!
Also, the Swiss have lots of cool chants. Sometimes they go on for minutes, sounding like an enormous choir singing a hymn.
This is the first soccer game I've ever watched more than three minutes of. |

Korea actually has been carrying most of the play...
..and those chants you're hearing.. half of them are definitely the Koreans.. |

they're not looking too good in front of goal though and with the way things stand it seems they will need two goals to go through, I can't see it happening to be honest, could be wrong |

Korea's been pressing hard, but unable to get the ball in the net. The Swiss don't seem to understand the concept of the clear.
Meanwhile, France is up 2-0. |

What do you mean carrying most of the game play? As I said I know nothing about soccer. It looks like they've been trying really hard, but being easily stopped. Guess I'm missing something. |

Flot--- too bad too, cuz other than that it was clear they weren't going anywhere. Now they have an excuse.
Enjoy the silence while you can |

it was a marginal call, looked like the linesman had his flag up but the ref overruled him, it's an uphill battle now, think they can forget it for this year |

Koreans do have a legit beef with that last goal...
The flag went up and they stopped.. Yes, the ref can over rule it but, damn that's a rough way to give up a goal... |

So why the heck are they showing Togo-France on KBS? The one time they finally show both games is when Korea is actually playing? Huh? |

Irregardless of it being a marignal call, they wouldn't have gone on. The best they would have done is tie it 1-1. France won 2-0, they would have gone (methinks)
They played well (if only for this last game) and should feel no shame. |

It is very, very quiet in my officetel this morning. I am looking forward to posts from people who made it out to the public gatherings tonight.
It was a respectable showing for the Koreans--more representative of their actual talent and potential at this stage.
I just hope they accept it and don't set up a new Silmido to take out that ref. |

yeah a draw wouldn't have been good enough, they would have gone out on goal difference. Still in most games where the ref makes such a call that is where the blame is always laid. They were dodgy in front of goal and never looked like scoring so they really had no hope on that front. Playing well equates to nothing if you can't convert your chances. It's a pity they are out though. Feel sorry for my coworkers, they had their victory celebration all planned out for tomorrow , still they can always drown their sorrows |

The fact that Korea failed to score a goal should mute most serious protests about the offside call. Perhaps it was good luck on the part of the Swiss.
In any case, as Advocaat would say, "The goal counted because the score was 2-0"
Korea didn't help their case by drawing 2 yellow cards. You need to keep your cool.
Whatever though. Full marks to the Swiss for playing a good game. Korea played not too badly either. Maybe in 4 years. |
