I've seen a few threads about haircuts and how to get it right. Perhaps those with good Korean can tell how it should be said. I know some basic phrases for cut it short or cut it little more, but that's about all I need to know. Showing a picture of yourself with hair you like helps.

If you know certain phrases or have questions about this, post.

Yeah, I tried that method when I first came to Korea. I had a friend write explicit directions in Korean on exactly how to cut my hair, and gave them to the barber. He glanced at it for 2 seconds and gave me the standard 3-layer cut he would've given anyway.

I had directions written down again to be taken to a hairdresser who could fix what the barber had done. The directions specifically said to get rid of the layers and make the sides all one length. All she did was cut each layer, so I still had the 3-layer effect when I left.

It was then that I gave up and just shaved it all off. I don't have any pics of what I want. No one seems to understand how to make the sides of a head the same length with clippers. I give up.

Maybe tell them "NO LIIIIIIIIIE-IIIINE!!!!" so you can avoid that typical ah-juh-sshi style bowl-cut that all the fellas from 26-106 are sporting.

I'm no Korean expert but I've used these two lines with success (most of the time):

"파랗은지 않게 잘라주세요" --Don't cut it blue(ly)

"하얀지 않게 잘라주세요" -- Don't cut it white(ly)

Kinda weird, but it was explained to me that it means don't cut it so that the scalp shows (some consider the scalp white and some consider it blue??)

Anyways, both lines have worked for me at different barbers...mainly blue club.

Go to the barber shops with 2 barber poles. I think they speak your language very well.

I like to goof around when I go in and tell them I want the 'Brad Pitt-eh'. Somehow, they do a decend job...however I no closer to looking like Brad Pitt. *sigh*

Though you may not like their exact choices of cuts (I do), I've found Blue Club to be great. Only 5000w for a cut, and they have like ten pictures of different haircuts up on the wall so you can just give them the number.

Actually, it's something that would be nice to see at home, too.
