What is the best beer you've ever had?

Not your favorite beer, but rather an occasion where the planets seemed to align and you found yourself thinking or saying aloud, Man, this could very well be the best beer I've ever had the pleasure of imbibing (or Dude, this brewski is f@#king sweet!).

For me it was a Molson Canadian I had during the Raptors opening game (against the Vancouver Grizzlies) at the Air Canada Centre. Which is weird, because I don't particularly like Molson Canadian. But for some reason that beer was sweeter than a chocolate-dipped sugar cube, and felt as smooth to my palate as a baby's fingers on velvet.

Anything on tap and cold on frosted mugs. (Although I don't drink anymore Crying or Very sad )

I had hated Guiness before becaue I drank it in bottles and it tasted like soy sause with a head. I had some on tap at "Once in a Blue Moon," a local high-brow jazz club in Apkujung, and I gotta say that the Irish are onto something and I can see why they get nutty over the stuff.

And, before I thought that that loyalty was more nationalistic jingoism rather than even an acquired taste.

I usually like the amber beers when I have a choice of beers on tap. My favorite was Killians Red, but I haven't found it on tap in over a decade. I will give my left tes...ah, hem, to the guy that finds that fine sauce on tap in Seoul. (Although I have stopped drinking).

Castle Lager, sunset at Skukuza Camp, Kruger National Park after a full day of driving around, spotting wildlife. Got the braai on the go and was barbecueing some homemade sausage given to me by my father's farmer friend. Saw a pride of lions that day.

Sweet.

I drink beer, but I'd rather ale. Do ales count? If so, perhaps you should modify the subject line. Beer != pilsner != ale != lager, etc.

Namaste.

Emerson's Dunkelweisen from Dunedin, New Zealand. Mmmmm... chocolatey. Unfortunately he seems to have stopped making it. I only had it once years ago, but the memory has stayed with me...

Otherwise, my favourite would be Kilkenny, oh so creamy. Haven't been able to find any here in Korea yet, but still looking...

While bicycling through Belgium I stopped at many a pub and after trying about half a dozen beers I had a Leffe Brun.

Still today the best tasting beer I have consumed, it was so good I had one too many and crashed into another cyclist just outside of Brugge on my way to amsterdam.

About 15 years ago lying on the beach on our first day in Mexico having beer after beer delivered to us while we watched half-naked women and the perfect clear blue sky. Of course, we had it so perfect we forgot where we were and ended up getting probably the worst sunburns of our lives. That could very well go in the 'things to never do' thread also. But, man was that good!

Budweiser is at least as good as any of the major Canadian brews.

The best beer in the U.S. might be Blue Moon, a micro brew from Florida.

Yeungling's has a few good brews, too.

I'm also a big fan of Budvar.

Also, enjoyed drinking beer in a monastery in Salzburg back in 1990. Went down smooth on many a summer afternoon.

The best beer is always the first one I have after a long day, sitting out in the warm summer weather.
