So two parts
One where does this photography group meet and when. I seem to have missed that.
Two where's a good place to get 120 film and pro 35mm and get it developed. I like to get my stuff developed and then a contact sheet. Makes things easier for storage. Anybody know of anywhere. I'm in Incheon but willing to travel for quality developing. I don't want to send stuff home to Don's Photo.
Thanks Guys |

As far as I know, there is no group.
No idea about film, indytrucks might know as he shoots on film. |

| You can buy quality 35mm slide (Velvia, Provia) and 120 (Velvia, Kodak) film at a number of shops around Namdaemun. As far as getting contact sheets done, just ask for them when you take your rolls in and they will do it for you. I don't know where you're at in Incheon, but I'm sure wherever it is there must be a decent photo lab somewhere ... maybe Bupyong or Dong Incheon? |

I'm not a photo nut but my Pop is and he kinda hinted to us, his sons, that he wants a digital camera. What's a good solid advanced amateur digital camera for an old man going from film to digital for the first time?
He's old school, f-stops, and lenses, filters, and such, but as he is past 70 (though very healthy and gets about). My brother bought him a very automatic F-something (sounded like a name for a jet fighter). He is now into digital.
I saw the new Sony digital camera at COEX, the DSLR-A100K. Is it any good? Anyone with experience with it? |

I use a Canon EOS 20D I like it. It's a pretty good camera. My first digital camera purchase was a Digital Rebel. It was in expensive and gave me the chance to get familiar with the settings. Yongsan techinal market has a Canon booth on the 2F. So you can see the cameras.
I know a lot of people who had other makers for Film cameras but switched to Nikon for digital.
It really depends on what price your looking at and then what cameras would fall in that price range. |

Misochan,
So you recommend the Canon EOS 20D or the Nikon? I'm getting that Nikon is the higher end and the EOS 20D is the more mid-range?
I suppose we owe the man our lives, so I would like to get him something nice, maybe in the $1-2k or so range (and us brothers are all chipping in). (I have no idea whether that is a lot or a little in camera land money). We actually want to get him a camera for a serious photographer, so somewhere a few times higher than that is ok too.
The man seems like he'll live for another good 20 years, so I think that he will enjoy taking pictures at all our family functions and his many road trips with his woman, our mater. The man takes astounding photos though, so he would know how to handle himself with a good set-up.
Me? I just got this little Canon, I can't remember the name but it is advertised by the Russian tennis girl, Sharpova or something like that. I'm ok with its fish-eye size bitty lens that has a flash range worth a crapola. Life's too short to take too many photos (but I'm probably pissing all of you aficionados off, so I'll saw it off here). |
