Well, I guess I have finally managed to land a good job here in Korea. Wait, the job is always good, so I guess I meant to say that I landed at a good school.

I was a little skeptical at first. But, I have no stress at all. I don't deal with Korean co-teachers. So, that means, nobody is trying to undermine me, or constantly getting their noses into my classroom business. Second, the co-workers are pretty cool. There are not many of us 4), but we all get along, and do our thing. Third, I teach the students that I can do my best with, and that is kindergarten. I teach a 4 hour kindi class from 10-2 (with lunch breaks, recess, etc), then a 50 minute kindi class at 2:30, then one elementary class from at 4:30. AFter that, I am done by 5:30..............DAMM good schedule.

Also, the director and her husband have been great to me. They don't dictate, get nosey, and offer useless advice. They let me teach, they way I feel is best. Although, the owner is American (Korean by birth) and her husband is American. Yeah, we may not have much in common, but they have been great.

Furthermore, Shindo-shi is a pretty cool little town. Good bars, a good grocery store, and friendly people. It is a little pricey, but that is the way it is in an airport town.

It is amazing how much difference ones experience in Korea can be determined by the owners of the school.

Oh, and I get three weeks of paid vacation (not counting public holidays).

I'm not bragging (well, a little) as so much as I am happy to be in a good situation. I started my Korean experience at a Wonderland, and I know all of the pitfalls that can come with being in the opposite situation that I am in now.

......just spreading some positive energy.

Cheers!

Congatulations! I hope your good fortune continues and that other hagwan owners will see what your bosses are doing right.....and thereby try to emulate a successful plan.....

good for you, OP.

I have a similar job. Four weeks vacation plus holidays... 10-2 preschool and 2 hours off from 2 to 4... then 4 to 7... not quite as nice as your schedule but it works. I'll only be working here 4 more weeks.

I know how it is to feel that you're onto a good thing. I've never had a bad teaching experience... not yet at least. But I'm ready to say goodbye to these little children and go back to my adult world!

Hope you have a great year.
