On a hot and humid summer Saturday afternoon, what is better than a strawberry float?
I came home from the grocery store with some Welch's strawberry pop and some vanilla ice cream, made my float and sat on my balcony and watched the kids play in the parking lot. If the kids would shut up it would be even more relaxing, but still... a pleasant 15 minutes.
But I like a little variety. What other summer drinks do people recommend? |

A strawberry ice-cream soda is pretty damned tasty as well, but it's a little more complicated then soda and ice-cream. You get a couple of pounds of strawberries, slice them and blend them, then simmer in a pot with sugar and water, run through a sieve to get rid of most of the seeds, then chill.
After 4 or 5 hours in a fridge, or overnight which is best, you get a glass, ad a tad bit of milk to the bottom, a few tablespoons of the now chilled syrup and a coupe of scoops of ice-cream. Then pour in some club soda, add more syrup to taste and garnish with some left-over strawberries and enjoy. The homemade syrup is awesome as just regular ice-cream topping or on pancakes or banana splits or anything else you'd want to use it for. If anyone is interested in the exact recipe PM me.
But if it's simplicity you're going for, I'll take a tall cold glass of lemonade.

Sherbert, vanilla ice cream, and club soda. Blend it all together. A complete rip-off of a Fribble from Friendly's but it's a fruity change to a regular shake. |

If you have a watermelon, blender, crushed ice and some sugar you can make a watermelon slushie. Yummy! |
