I will be flying in on July 3rd and will be stuck there about 12 hours until my plane leaves for Daegu. Is there a reasonably priced hotel nearby where I can catch some shuteye? (By reasonable I mean not exceeding $100 USD).

I believe I read somewhere that Incheon is a good distance from Seoul is that correct?

Why wait around for a flight? You can just catch a bus or something to Daegu much more easily. As for the hotel, couldn't tell ya. But out by the airport are mostly high-end hotels. I've heard that there is a "lounge" at the airport where you can sleep and bathe, but not sure.

Check into buses or trains. That'd be what I'd do.

What's with a 12 hour layover for a flight to Daegu? Like kprook said, just take a bus. It will take less than 5 hours and cost less than a hotel room. Just make sure you do your business before getting on - the buses here don't have facilities (although the long range buses will take a pit stop about halfway through).

You can catch a "limosine" bus for about 20 bucks to Daegu.

Walk out of the baggage area, and all the exit doors have the bus ticket booths. Buy a ticket. do this by saying "daegu chu-say-oh".

give them 3 green Korean bills (30 bucks), and they will give you the change.

get on the bus.

sleep for 4 1/2-5 hours.

save 80 bucks.

my mom did it, and she is one of the world's most frightened travellers. she loved it. Korean buses are cheap, clean, and fast. I wouldn't dream of flying anywhere within Korea, what a waste of money!

good luck

Here are some hotels that I think are in the Incheon airport. You can click around on them to try and find prices.

http://www.airporthotel.co.kr/vol2/IndexE.asp

http://www.incheon-hotel.com/eng/specials_packages.html (this might be the cheapest one)

Really, though, those prices are outrageous for what you need. You'd be much better off doing the bus thing like someone said, or finding a taxi and asking him to take you somewhere to a cheap hotel somewhere.

Thanks for the suggestions. Part of my thinking was when I get to Incheon I won't have slept for about a day. I figured it would make a good first impression to meet my employer washed, refreshed, and ready to teach my first class (just kidding about the last part, at least I hope Very Happy)

Are these buses constantly leaving from Incheon to Daegu or will I probably have to wait some time for them as well?

they leave every hour. don't know if they are 24 hours , think so, but if not, if your flight gets in at 3 am or something, then do hotel or take a shuttle bus to Seoul. Sure there are more than one option.

There's also a sauna in Incheon airport where you can shower up and sleep for awhile, for 10,000won.

As others have mentioned, look at taking the bus to Daegu. Or ask your travel agent to put you on an earlier Seoul-Daegu flight out of Gimpo airport and take the bus to there.

That's dumb man. Tell your boss or whatever to cancel the flight. Go to the service desk (tourist information) and ask for the shuttle bus. They call it a limo bus. It'll take you about 3 or 4 hours and you can get some shut eye on the bus. (trust me...I've done it about 6 times).

Yeah it is pretty dumb but I doubt they are refundable tickets. I don't think it really matters though, I will just tell them I'll be arriving a little early.

Thanks for the tips all.

Meanwhile your boss will be hungover and fresh from the sauna after a night of binge drinking

Unfortunately Korean Air does only one flight a day to Daegu from Incheon. Can't request an earlier one from Incheon.
It seems like your flight arrives in the morning before 9 am? (going by your 12hour time delay)
There's a fight from Kimpo to Daegu at 2:30 in afternoon. Could get a bus from Incheon to Kimpo in an hour. Preferable than waiting till 7:30 for your plane.
I'm sure the Korean Air desk at Incheon would arrange that earlier flight for yah.

Or, as people said, pay your additional way for the bus.
