joking, just joking. But perhaps the American anthem is the most fitting one. It has the sound of overproduced pop trash, sort of like American pop culture. |
Do you ever have anything nice to say? Are you like this in person? |

| I love the South African tune. It's simple, but very powerful. |

I thought the Mexican one was quite good. Heard it for the first time the other night.
'God save the Queen' has to be one of the worst. England should adopt 'Land of Hope and Glory'. |

England????? Last time I checked England wasn't recognized as an independent state, and didn't have a UN seat. Therefore it couldn't possibly adopt Land of Hope and Glory, since both it and God Save the Queen are already owned by a different state - THE UNITED KINGDOM!!!!
Am I wrong in assuming that people on this site have uni degrees?
Jeez. |

Well, then how come God Save the Queen is played at every England match if it is 'owned' (does the UK have the copyright?) by the UK? It could adopt Land of Hope and Glory and it would be a much better national anthem, than the ode to her majesty we have at the moment.
As far as football tournaments are concerned, England is a separate country. Only a Yank would be ignorant of this fact, surely? |

IF you had any Brit friends, they might be offended. The tune of the American anthem is a British drinking song, so I guess if you just changed the nationality you would be right: British pop culture.
I still think the French have the best one. I can smell gunpowder every time I hear it. |

I've got to agree-- it's a doozy. I'm whistling it right now. So much peppier that the snooze-inducing Canadian anthem. |

I'll second that, the old commies sure have a beautiful sounding anthem. Makes me jealous. |
