If you switch employers after your contract finishes and want to stay in Korea, are you automatically out your "free" airfare money? Seems wrong not to get it since it is part of your employer's budget regarding you.

In our school contract a teacher who doesn't leave Korea is NOT entitled to any airfare. If you get anything depends on how you performed during your time at the school.

Funny...I've just found out the same thing,ie if I DON"T leave I get nothing-and it has to be my homecountry.

Apparently, its a contract hangover from some years ago.

Its bizarre.

Make sure you negotiate to have the words "or cash equivalent" in your contract in the airfare section to avoid this sort of nonsense. Don't let your employer get away with saving money just because you're not going home.

Yes,good point.

I never imagined I would have had a hassle as its a public school and I was given an airfare refund within my first week.
