For those of you who have saved enough to begin investing, how do you do it? Do you use an online offshore discount brokerage, or something in Korea?
I'm looking for a safe way to invest money on the main exchanges which will not somehow cause me to be hunted down by Canada Customs and Rev should I ever return to Canada. |

You should consider investing in my University stands.
Outside every university in Korea....a Cuban sandmich stand making samiches to go for the hungry university students. We'll have adjumas running the stands, pay them 9 bucks an hour...
We'll make millions!
Trust me! |

Have you made the business plan?

None of the above, but let me tell you what I experienced just outside of Kyung Hee university about a year ago.
Wife and I walking home from the university...we spy a loooong line of students waiting in line at a store w/open face front. Adjuma making something similar to a cuban (hot plate and all) and I was amazed....now if that had been a real Cuban samwch...oh mama mia!
The line woulda been much longer. |

I see you have not worked out the business plan. I don't know anyone in Korea that pays $9 an hour for unskilled labor. The rate is about 3000 Won an hour. |

Hi Ms. Roo,
It's ironic that you start this thread a day after my wife and I spend a few hours, in good conversation, discussing investments. By Sept. 2007, we plan on buying our first home in Florida. We'll still be in Korea; we'll rent it out. Every year there after, we plan on purchasing another home, duplex, or condo using the equity built on the original investment (kind of like a domino effect). This way, upon returning home, we have something to sustain us.
What I am trying to say is, if you are interested in investing money back home (albeit your home in in The States or Canada), your best bet would be real-estate. There is nothing like having your money work for you! Passive income...ahhhhhhh...there's nothing like it. |
