How much did it cost you guys to send your documents to the school in Korea to get your visa process started? I went FedEx, and it was like $100 that I wasn't expecting to pay. No big deal, but do you think the school will reimburse me...lol...yeah right.

by the way, I sent it from Miami to Incheon |

When I was in AZ (Phoenix) used USPS and when I was in Vancouver, Canada I used Canada Post. Both times I used airmail service. It took about a week in each instance and only cost a couple of dollars. |

I used FedEx b/c I thought it would be faster than USPS, and I want to get this done, since I will be waiting for them to do their thing in Korea, then I have to send my passport up to Atlanta to get my visa stamp, right? |

When I sent my stuff with FedEx, it came out to be like 80 bucks, but Fedex is reliable, especially when sending stuff overseas. And yes, it was quicker. But I doubt your school will reimburse you, which stinks. Then whenever the school sends you the visa issuance number, then you can send in your passport to the Korean consulate in Atlanta. I sent mine to Houston, and it was rough. I kept trying to call to check on the status and the lady kept hanging up on me! I thought my passport was a goner, but I got it back three weeks later. I wish I had paid extra for Fedex overnight instead of USPS, just for the peace of mind knowing I was getting it back. And of course when I did finally get it back, there was a cancelled visa in there from them putting in the wrong one at first! At least they got it right and put the correct one in as well. But geeze, what an ordeal. |

I sent mine Fedex from Dallas. Spent 70 bucks, but I was able to track the package with every stop it made. It hit Busan in 3 days.
I don't know about sending my passport to the consulate, there must be another way. Forget that shiite! |

I used one of the express services through the USPS. It was fast--less than a week. They gave me a tracking number, and it was much less expensive than Fed Ex or UPS. |

The Canada Post version of this gives you a tracking number as well and is cheap (er) than Fed-ex. |

I just sent mine from Canada with UPS and it was $50. We had checked with fed ex first and they quoted me $130 so we were glad we looked around a little. As for the school reimburing...I know ours isn't going to. |

I sent mine through Purolator, which is a courier service of Canada Post.
It got there in four business days and cost me $50.
It sucks that you don't get reimbursed...but you are getting a lot of other free stuff like airfare and an apartment...so I'm not complaining too much.
If I remember correctly the Visa application costs about $90...another thing that most schools do not reimburse for. But again, you can't expect to have everything free in this deal...so I'm not complaining. These are minor costs compared to airfare and accommodation. |

Mailed USPS w/ tracking number for a few bucks. They got it, no problem. However, I have a question-I was going to drive to the consulate outside of Boston. If I walk in, will I walk out with my visa? I have the (visa?) number that the school sent me for what they have processed.
Edited to add:
Ah, I'll just call the consulate tomorrow..then if I think about it, I'll post my results. It may be that the info will help some future newbie. Seems silly to mail it if I can drive up in an hour-but if they can't just do it, why go more than once? |

The last time I got a Visa from the consulate in Ottawa they kept my passport for a couple of days. So no, I don't think you will get the Visa the same day. |

Both of mine have been from Chicago. The first time, I had them mail it to me and received it in a about a week. The second time, I went in person to pick it up about 3 business days after I dropped my passport off. |
