When are you going to finally break your cherry, Dogbert?

Spinoza is looking for a mate.

Perhaps he'll help you out.

While you're making puerile "jokes", innocent people are dying needlessly, the cycle of hatred and revenge is expanding, and you are spouting off like a three-year old with a soiled diaper.

I'm ashamed that you are an American.

I'm ashamed of myself also!

But that doesn't get you off the hook.

When are you going to finally get laid?

Funny you should ask, seeing how your wife is here in Korea.

Really?

Considering that you and I are the same age, yet you look ten years older while I look ten years younger, I'd say you'd better check to see she hasn't cashed in her return ticket.

Not that _I'm_ that desperate, of course.

You're wrong and here's why:

1. Yes many of the terrorists are foriegners but Arabs are proud people and will never allow the US to stay there. So even if you kill all the foriegn jihadists the Shiite militia's will take over and kill Americans.

2. Vietnam is a resonable comparison in that the Vietnamese had Soviet and Chinese support, Iraq Shiites have the support of the Iran and Foriegn jihadists have the support of much of the Muslim world.

3. South Korea was put under the control of military and civilian dictators from 1945 until 1992ish. The US can't install a leader in Iraq because they will look like hypocrites thus they have to allow democracy. If they allow open and free votes we will see Iraqi's go they way of Palestine by electing armed militia men.

Octavious never gives credit.

The number two economy in the world is Japan. Why? Because we nuked them and built them back up.

Korea is number ten. Why? Because we installed pupet governments for damn near thirty years till democracy finally caught on.

We defeated the Soviet Union.

We defeated Nazism and Japanese oppression.

Point?

The entire globe has been affected by U.S. foreign policy. We aren't a bunch of gorillas.

We are Rome.

Yes, the US installed dictators and then economies flourished, that works. But the US can't do that here because they have made this about democracy, their hands are tied.

We defeated the Soviet Union

I know you Reaganites like to believe that but its just not true, the Soviets collapsed under poor management not pressure from the outside. Their failure was more about a failed idea, not the mighty US (for proof see the Korean War and the Vietnam War).

Yeah except without the orgies. But remember every Empire since Rome has last shorter and shorter.

What are you talking about. We installed puppet governments in Korea? Exactly what leader did what we wanted? Rhee acted almost as savage to his own people as Kim did in the North. Park was a total dictator who went against us constantly. We tried our hardest to keep Chun from taking power. etc etc etc.
And just because Japan made out on the Korean War dosen't mean we built them up. They did that themselves.

The real problem in Iraq is trying to give democracy to people who aren't ready for it.(if anyone is)

We supported Park Chung hee for many years till he talked about going nuclear. Then he got shot. Big surprise there. Wink

We could use someone like Park Chung hee in Iraq. A capitalist. Friendly toward the U.S. Willing to throw trouble makers out of helicopters and then get a good nights sleep.

Another good thing about Park Chung hee is that he was disposible. Iraq could use a dictator like that. After he outlives his use, we can clip him.

Great. Now all those loud-mouthed Korean nationalists who claim that the Yanks had Park bumped off because he was on the verge of making Korea a nuclear superpower can cite Dave's as a source.

The threat of being tossed from a helicopter might be an effective deterrent against left-wing college students and trade unionists. Probably not so effective against a guy whose plan is to drive a truck into a mosque and blow himself to kingdom come. Which type do you think more closely approximates the average member of the Iraqi insurgency?

You live in a democracy, America style!

It's called South Korea.

America invented the nation. There was no South Korea.

And it took over 40 years for democracy to catch on.

Now, because of the efforts and blood of my countrymen, you get to earn a paycheck. The next time you take a sip of beer or make a pretty girl pay dutch, a thank you for the American men who lost their lives would probably be in order.

Ah.. there were Canadians and Kiwi's and Aussie's and Limey's sitting in Korean trenches too there big fella. It was the first major war the US actually got into at the beginning instead of half way through when all the Canucks and Limeys had finished the hard work of just surviving.

And it was Koreans who earned/took their democracy you. The US might have kept them from praying to Uncle Kim but it was Korean men and women who died for democracy over the last 40+ years. The US didn't give them any of that, in fact if it were up to the US i'm sure Korea would still be a tinpot dictatorship.
