A Korean player tuning in late, will almost believe they've tied or won every game for the past five years and have done so cleanly at that. |
Exactly! We have discussed the non-objective Korean sportscasters before. By being so one sided it is no reason Koreans feel any different. If you never see another viewpoint I think it is natural that they'd be in for a shock. In a lot of ways the Korean media sucks. |

DVDs yes. Music, certainly. cant agree abou the movies. Infact Korean cinema is quite good, one of the most creative cinemas in the world. if anyone copies movies, that would be the Americans who are snapping up film rights from all over the globe, including a few Korean flicks too. I like Korean movies as they push the envelope to a level American films wouldnt have the guts too. Im waiting for the American version of Old Boy. Im betting that they wont have the guts to make it as edgy as the Korean version. |
Everyone borrows off everyone, Oldboy was based on a Japanese comic book and also borrowed off the Opedius myth. Chingu reminded me of that American movie Sleepers and I've got a vauge memory of seeing an old Chinese movie that was similar in plot to the Kings Men.
I am interested about news of a remake of JSA set along the USA/Mexico border.....I don't know how they can recreate the tension of the DMZ using a location which thousands of people cross each day. You would think a western remake would be set in 80s Berlin instead. |

I agree there. The all-white kit was classy, a touch of the Real Madrid home kit. Miles above the new Red Devils garish neon-red away kit and both home and away kits from the last campaign. |

From Justin Lin, the director of the US version of Old Boy...
I love that film and the only reason I wanted to explore that avenue is because it really spoke to me. I didn't sign on to make a Xerox copy of the original because it's a masterpiece. I wanted to explore other themes within it. If I was going to come close to making a Xerox I hope I have enough sense to stop that process. Oldboy is one of those projects where structurally it's so solid and it brings up so many great themes that you could give it to ten different filmmakers and it would be interesting to see what comes out of each of them.So far Universal has been very open to anything. I told them that I'm not signing on unless we're not going to water down the ending. It has always been important to make sure that it's understood up front what we're trying to accomplish. |
