A Korean colleague recommended it, but there's no information about the position. Ditto about salary, housing allowance, hours, etc. All I know is they want an English Conversation teacher in the Tourism department. I must apply by July 7th.
What's the good, the ugly, and the in-between about this place? Anybody ever worked there?
Thanks in advance. |

Do you mean Kyungin Women's College (경인여자대학) in Kyeyang-gu Incheon?
Go for it and ask to see a copy of their contract. Let us know about the conditions. Can't hurt to ask, right?
It may be hard to find someone who's actually worked there; I can't imagine they employ too many foreign English instructors. The position may even be a recent edition to their curriculum. |

I haven't taught there, but I'm familiar with the area. It's a pretty nice place to live, although the Wal-Mart and Carrefour will probably be leaving soon (the whole chain is pulling out). |

Yes, it's the one in Geyang-gu. My friend spelt it wrong, lol.
From what he could gather it was 2 mill won a month (The website is VERY vague, and so was adminstration when he called them.), housing is paid and there are no kid's camps, but I need confirmation. 2 mill won is too low; I earn 3 mill now, but I would consider it if the classes are small, like at Suwon Technical College. It's only a half hour ride from my apartment.
I know there's at least one foreigner there; I've contacted him via his school email but it's holiday time.
Too bad my contract is ending. |

경인여자대학...
ah...good memories.
why?
becuase I worked there for 3 years.
Now, I work in Japan so I guess they are looking for a new teacher.
It is a small school, so there is only 1 other foreign teacher there (Canadian).
Location is a bit far from things. If you dont mind travelling by bus to Bupyeong and then Seoul, there is a Samhwa bus that takes you directly to Seoul.
As for the apartment, I think they may have changed the apartment. Small, but comfortable for 1 person. Salary, it is 2 mil, low but life in Incheon is not so expensive. School, very nice. Tourism department has about 50 students per class but I usually divided this class into 2 sections (more managable).
The 2 professors in the deparment, Choe and Song, are nice and friendly. I had no problems with them or the school.
So, if you dont mind the okay salary and the distance to Seoul, it is a good school. not great, but good.
see my pictures at www.cyworld.com/duggan. Look in the photos, under school life.
enjoy~ |

Thanks, people.
Matthews_world-I'm a woman, LOL.
Risuhyeon, you were able to divide the classes into two? How were you able to do that? I've had to teach between 40 and 60 students, and couldn't divide the classes.
I thought the nearest station was Gyesan, on the Incheon line. I live in Incheon, and have my own apartment. If they provided you with one, then they do help with the rent. Cool.
You didn't do kids camps? Did you develop your own syllabi and write your own exams?
It sounds like a good place to work. It makes a difference when your collegues are pleasant and professional. Did you leave last year?
PM me with more details if you like.
Thanks. |
