Hello gentlepeople.
I am gonig to renew my passport in the next few weeks, and I was wondering what I need to do about my current visa. With the Canadian gov, you can ask for your old passport to be returned. They just hole punch "cabncelled" or something through it.
If the old passport is returned to me, do I need to take it and the new one to immi and get a stamp in teh new one?
Or...
If the old old passport is not returned to me, is there something i need to do?
Or, is my ARC simply enough....?
Sorry for the bad grammar, spelling, class is sitting down,.
THanks. |

| They will give you back the old passport with a corner snipped off the cover & stamped cancelled. You need to take both passports & your ARC to immi within, I think, 2 weeks, & fill out a form. They'll transfer any necessary stamps into your new passport. Free, as I recall. |

I had to do it 2 years ago and they did it on the spot as was stated above.
No cost. Just make sure you do it in the 2 weeks after your new passport is start dated from. Also make sure there are no days between when you old passort runs out and your new passort starts.
This happened to me (it wasn't my fault but my embassy's. I did all the paperwork in time and they were going to mail my passports back to me but the person in charge then went on vacation and sent it back to me a week later) but I was lucky to be dealing with a nice lady at Masan immigration and she didn't fine but told me that they are supposed to. |
