hey all,

i was just wondering if anyone has any experience in sending medium to large size suitcases home. i have heard the cheapest way is by boat, and i dont mind that it is slow. can anyone let me know any information about any methods of shipping home and their respective costs?

thanks a million

i sent home a box the size of a gas range home to nz (it worked out to be about 6kgs...it was mostly clothing and presents for the family

i sent it by registered mail just to be safe and it would get there within 4 working days and it cost me 60k ...at little expensive but worth it and the korean mail system is very reliable Very Happy

i guess that if you were to send it surface (which is the slow boat option) then it would prob cost around 25-30k ( a very rough estimate!!) Confused

i have found at my local post office that there is usually one person who speaks a little broken english Wink

I know that it costs w50,000 to send a 20kg box to Australia through the postal system by boat. Takes about 2 months to get there. I think its quite a reliable method but don't know first hand as I haven't sent mine yet.

I used the local post office to do what you are planning. I don't remember the cost, but it was reasonable. Just go down and ask. They have a chart that explains the size/weight regulations with the price. I found the post office to be very helpful and reliable.

I also use the post office. Be careful, though, as I do believe they limit the size of box you can send. If I recall correctly, the number 5 box is the largest box you can ship internationally.

Other than the possible size restrictions, the post office works great. I shipped two boxes home last year and had no problems at all. Shipping by land/boat was actually fairly priced.
