In another thread, I realized that something was "up"/down with my computer.
Well, now my computer is working swimmingly; no problems.

SADLY, my external hard-drive WITH everything of concequence (pictures (inc. wedding pics), all music and my favorite shows, resumes and various important bits) now won't work.

I will plug it in/turn it on or whathave you.
It will read the drive...but
where before, it would read the drive (in the little window) and the information would scoot past, it is now blank as it is being read.

A little box will appear saying "G: drive isn't formatted. Do you want to format it now?".
Of course format=lose everything.

I'm not really keen on that. Is anyone aware of a WAY around this? ANYTHING? Like, if i bring it to a shop, would they be able to extract the info....solve the problem and put it all back or something?

desperately seeking susan...and a solution.

This happened to me a little while ago and I had to google forever to find some utilities that fixed the drive (temporarily). Unfortunately I can't remember the names, but if you google for disk repair utility that should get you started in the right direction.

If all else fails and you live in Seoul head over to Yongsan Space 9 (damn what'd they change the name to?) and on either the 7th or 8th floor (possibly the 6th) I saw a data recovery shop. I'm not sure about the prices but you could try them out.

I tell ya...that is a killer proggie for sure. It has saved data from drives that were dead as fried chicken. Takes a long, long time, but man, it gets results.

Do you use it for maintenance, or just when things go south? I use it once every couple of months...leave it run for a weekend.

Anyways, if and when he checks back, that is what I will send him. Just for a trial, of course.

If you have a friend with a computer, it will be really easy to do. Heck, send me the drive...I will do it for you!

Take it to a good shop...the stuff on the drive seems really valuable. Good luck.
