My second stint in Korea ( Hogwon ), even freakier than the first, obviously I cant learn a lesson or haven't got better options.
Concluded Korean supervisor was certifiable bout 3 days into job. Coworker arrives few weeks later and goes head 2 head. Fast foward 3 months. Tonight supervisor does a beserker like '28 Days Later' shoving coworker in doorway of office, swings a left paw punch hitting coworker upper chest, but door frame impeded full impact. Co worker exits premises. Returns sometime later and by the time she exits again has Letter of Release.
So there you go, thats 1 way of getting that elusive Holy Grail of Korean ESL. |

It seems both threads are a little light on the details of what happened. Your probably right though, it's best for the person directly involved to explain if they feel comfortable doing so. |

It's a criminal matter. The police must be notified. |

Although this case of a supervisor hitting a female is extreme, I've heard that it happens in Korea with alarming frequency. I'm certain that I could have been the victim on a few occasions if my boss had been a dude. |

I had to leave the room at one point when I thought my (now ex) supervisor was going to hit me. It was because I refused to sign a new contract without first having the evening to look over it. But Korean bosses don't seem to like being told "no". If said supervisor has a naturally bad temper then that could manifest itself into violent behavior. At least you had witnesses. |

Did you remember to tell her that she looks cute when she's angry? Angry women with violent tendencies really like to hear that. |

LOL
I wonder how many coworkers have hit other coworkers...now those are stories worthy of a bag of popcorn and a good read.
(Too bad I don't have any...) |

I had a co-worker who wanted to hit me, but she was too much of a Christian to do it. Instead, she went home, stood behind her door and went into her "Dear Lord, forgive Ya-ta Boy and that other SOB in the office. They don't know what they are doing" at the top of her lungs for 30 or so minutes before she transmogrified into her speaking in tongues rant accompanied with stomping in circles. (I know this because she lived across the hall.)
It worked to my advantage though. Soon after this event, my cat went into heat for the first time and squalled all Valentine's Day weekend. I was embarrassed until the neighbors asked me if I'd heard Christian Girl chanting and squalling again. I smiled sweetly and said I didn't know what set her off this time. |
