I'm no big religious guy.
But why do so many of you feel it is necessary to badmouth Jesus?
No matter how you feel about the religion, he was one of the greatest guys to walk the Earth.
Why all the animosity towards J and his followers? |

I haven't seen anyone badmouth Jesus on these forums, ever. Badmouthing his followers, that's another story. Christian have wildly distorted the message of Christ, which was a good message. |

I have never seen someone badmouth Jesus yet? While I may have missed it, it most definitely doesn't happen as much as RTeachers purple God gets made fun of.
Christ's followers (or so they call themselves) on the otherhand do get quite a bit of usually well deserved flak. |

Your excuse is that you are narrowing it down to the followers? |

That's not ac excuse, that's a description of reality. That is what happens on this board. People don't bag on Jesus, only his followers. And they are two significantly different entities, so yes it's a necessary distinction... |

There is no excuse there. My post was quite simple. Nobody here makes fun of Jesus, they only make fun of Christians. If you have a problem with that, then ok, we can talk about it. But I didn't say we can make fun of Jesus becasue of his followers. I said no one makes fun of Jesus even though they do of his followers. |

There are some freaky Christians out there, but they can't all be lumped together. The stuff they follow in Korea is so distorted it's ridiculous.
And people don't devote any time or energy badmouthing other major religions. Hinduism for instance (caste system anyone?). |

President Bush claims that Jesus Christ saved his life.
Yet the president still supports the death penalty, which according to my understanding goes totally agaist Christ's teachings.
It's not necessarily that people bad mouth Jesus, it's more based on the fact that many who claim to be Christians are hypocrates and distort Christ's message.
In addition, i'm not fully prepared to say that Jesus was an actual historical figure. The Gospels are the only real evidence of this and I don't believe in many of the stories from there.
Plus the idea of a Virgin Birth, Holy Trinity, and the Ressurection goes totally against science and logic. I can't believe in it. |
