With semester finished, work over and fuk all on telly before the footie starts, I decided to order in some pizza, download a bunch of films and slob it all weekend. Not something I usually do, but the weather's been pretty lousy and all my mates have disappeared on holiday. So here's what I watched:

Duane Hopwood

Cache (Hidden)

Swimming Pool

Ripley's Game

Bully

All in all I enjoyed every film. David Schwimmer was excellent in the first film, and that's quite an admission for me as I hated him in Friends. Cache was superb, sinister, but the ending left me confused. Swimming Pool again provided a somewhat puzzling ending, but nowhere near as enigmatic as Cache. John Malkovitch was creepy and brilliant as Tom Ripley. Bully was grim and bleak, and I'm now 100% convinced Larry Clark is a pervo borderline paedophile creepshow, but he makes excellent films. I felt the same after watching Kids.

Has anyone else seen these films? What did you think of them? In particular, I still can't get the ending of Cache out of mind.

I remember enjoying "Bully" when I saw it. Actually I've liked all of Larry Clark's stuff that I've seen. There's an interesting documentary about his career kicking about as well. It covers among other things, his photography, films and some of the real life characters associated with his works. I can't remember the name of it but yeah...it's worth a look.

Larry Clark also has a new movie coming out this month that looks really good, WASSUP ROCKERS.

haven't heard of four of them.... what happened to the days when I caught little films that could?

BTW,re: Swimming Pool... there was somethin missing. The writer or director - or both.... need to revisit Hitchcock...

I saw Lucky Number Sleven (oddly it was shown in theater 7 at the Artereon). Not bad. You can kind of see the big twist coming from a mile away. Let me revise "not bad" to "not bad for the hollywood films that come to Korea".
