The only thing you can laugh at (though you shouldn't) is practically all the other countries that became independent had to do it by spilling their own blood for independence.

Australia? New Zealand? India? singapore? Hong Kong? No blood spilled.
The Brits thought that America was worth keeping. Hence the Revolutionary War. Other countries waited until Britian didnt care any more or until Britian was too weak to do anything about it. |
Most countries in the world have shed blood for their freedom. There are ones that didn't and it would be better if the world could always work like that. But that post was from some idiot American and I am much more proud of our 13 year, peacefully gained independence than the American version. |

Pretty strange, considering I'm Canadian and I was simply making fun of CNN for stating that Canada is only 13 years old. |

I love how they changed 'in all Thy Son's command' to 'in all thy sons' command'. PC w a n k e r s. Probably next they'll change it to 'in all thy sun's command' just so it's not gender exclusive.
Here's the original verse three:
O Canada! Beneath thy shining skies

To keep thee steadfast through the years

Well, she had it coming with all her upstart talk of military culture and hubby is so BIG. I understand the need for a military but it should be understated and performed as a sacrifice, not this bluster stuff....
Also, if it walks, talks, acts, eats, dresses like a cult . It is a cult. Look at the checklist. A few points are weak but most bang on. She should get some help. Or atleast help her hubby.

It's a damned shame you seem so unhappy. Seriously. I'm guessing you don't have a spouse.
I'm really proud of my husband. He's an awesome guy. The men under his command love him to bits because he's always fair and reasonable. I love him to bits because he's always fair and reasonable. And here's some more "upstartedness" you can snivel at with your bottomless feelings of inadequacy--he's a hottie AND he's got a master's degree in engineering 
As for your ridiculous "cult" reference, well military service has run in my family for the last couple of hundred years. Often distinguished. I guess we're doomed!!

Oh blood was spilled in the formation of modern New Zealand for sure, just not Brittish blood... |

True story of when I worked in the produce department.
(Names have been changed to protect the guilty and gullible.)
A man in a Florida supermarket tries to buy half a head of
lettuce. The very young produce assistant tells him that they
sell only whole heads of lettuce.
The man persists and asks to see the manager.
The boy says he will ask his manager about it.
Walking into the back room, the boy said to his manager, "Some
bozo wants to buy half a head of lettuce."
As he finished his sentence, he turned to find the man standing
right behind him, so he added, "And this gentleman has kindly
offered to buy the other half."
The manager approved the deal, and the man went on his way.
Later the manager said to the boy, "I was impressed with the way
you got yourself out of that situation earlier. We like people
who think on their feet here. Where are you from, son?"
"Canada, sir," the boy replied.
"Well, why did you leave Canada?" the manager asked.
The boy said, "Sir, there's nothing but prostitutes and hockey
players up there."
