The other day I was walking towards Kyobo when I saw an older, somewhat heavy-set couple standing on the sidewalk holding a map and looking & gesturing around them. I was hungry and had food on my mind, so I just walked on past. I got about a half dozen steps when I thought, "Ah, hell, they're probably looking for Namdaemun or Insa-Dong, I might as well be a Nice Guy and go see if I can help." So I turn around and head back.
Me (smiling): Excuse me, do you need some help finding something, you look a little lost.
She (in a heavy, Southern USA, chicken-fried drawl): Oh, we-all's just tryin' to find us a MAC-Donald.
He: Yeah, we saw a sign on a bus headed on that-uh way, we was wunderin' if there's a MAC-Donald around hee-uh somewhey-uh.
Me (smile faltering, blinking rapidly): Uh, gee, well.... I don't... uh, really know... I know there's a Burger King over there behind that brown building (Kyobo)...
She: Well, we saw there's a KAY-Eff-SEE right over hee-uh (pointing), but we eat there all the TAI-um. We wanna try us some MAC-Donald.
Me (involuntary blink reflex going into ovedrive): Uh, sorry, I don't really eat at McDONald's a lot, I don't... uh, really know... I'm pretty sure there must be one around here somewhere, though...
He: Aw, that's all right. You say they-uh's a Buggakiing right ovuh they-uh?
Me: Uh, yeah, right over there behind that two-tone brown building.
She: Well, all right then. Thanks for stopping!
Me: Uh, sure, no problem. Have a good day.
I may have to think twice next time before I stop to help someone who looks lost! |

No, ya still done a good thing.
They are on vacation (I hope!) and vacation doesn't have to mean try new things or do new things, it means having fun and relaxing. They wanted McDonald's and they should do whatever they want. I don't like to judge, though in my opinion they are probably wasting a massive opportunity for growing as people. But I am happy knowing that they were happy (if the found the BK that is).
Anyways, I went to McDonald's in China once just to buy a happy meal because it was Chinese New Years and I wanted a sheep toy (my Chinese sign) Actually, I bought two. One unopened and one opened... |

Semes to me they have grown enough:) Time to stop growing and that would mean no fastfood. |

Yeah, in retrospect I probably should've offered to take them for some galbi or samgyeop sal or something a little more "local". I'm just not sure I would've been able to handle prolonged exposure to that accent without starting to pick it up myself... |

You did a good thing, fast food or not. If someone looks lost and you know the area, help them. It's common courtesy. 2 karma points for you. |

Minus one for reveling in the stereotypical portrayal of Southerners as ignorant rubes. |

OP, you are a d***.
It's one thing to light-heartedly tease someone about their accent. It is another thing entirely to be be a sh*thead about it. As you displayed in your post, you are the latter.
Everyone has an accent; everyone has an a**hole. You have both and are the second as well. |

Before reacting too harshly, check this out:

(And for the record, I thought it was well-written dialogue, albeit totally meretricious.)
