Does anyone use the Yahoo online dictionary in class?
I use it all the time. My students are more comfortable and quicker in front of a computer than with a regular dictionary.

The problem is that the Yahoo dictionary is horrible. Twice in the last week I've had students type in the word 'jeans' to get a translation.

So how does jeans=진바지 come after 'cream one's jeans'?
Should have seen the look on my student's face as he was trying to figure out what to write.
Anybody know of a better online dictionary?

I had one student write for a definition of Japanese: "Korea's next nation" something inside tells me it came from a Korean dictionary..

this one gives 진바지 first. Although, personally, I've always heard them called 청바지. I also like it cuz it will show you a list of potential words as you type a word in.

Don't know how accurate it is, but it's close enough that if I enter the sentence in English and repeat the answer in Korean that my wife can figure out what it is I'm trying to say.

That's an okay one. Not perfect, but pretty good.

That second or third entry in the Yahoo one is pretty funny though..."Cream one's silkies" Guess it helps demonstrate the limitations of dictionaries...or maybe they are actually a good way to expand a student's vocabulary...maybe not in the most desirable way, but...
