Its that time of year again. Hot weather = skimpy clothing = self-conscious girls. I think this has something to do with it, or the fact that I'm teaching a summer camp at a girls University, but the number of times I go into the bathroom after lunch and hear some girl vomiting.... and as far as I know there is no flu going around here.
They come out of the toilets with red eyes, wash their mouths out then go back to class.
Its happened about 5 times in the last month.
I heard that bulimia is a real problem in Korea. While some Korean girls must have naturally high metabalisms, I'm also really amazed at how much some of them can eat and remain so thin |

I remember reading an article about this recently in the Korean Herald. An international poll was conducted and it turned out that Korea had the highest percentage of females that believed they were 'fat'. I think the actual number was 77%.
Now, from what I've seen 77% of Korean woman are anything but 'fat'. I've actuallyt given up on trying to convince the females I know here that they aren't fat and, if anything, need to gain a few pounds. |

When I taught (for 2 years) at a uni, the only puking going on was due to extreme hangovers. I've had a few students rush out of class before, or come to class 20 min. late or so because they were in the bathroom. I'd bet you anything it has more to do with drinking than anything else.
Ooooooh... You know, it could be due to morning sickness, too.... |

| I've seen little girls doing it too. What I don't understand is the aversion to exercise that some of the girls have. |

I think it's probably more an aversion to sweating. |

I remember a teacher telling me that the Korean women that worked at her school would skip eating for a day, so they wouldn't get fat. |

Yep, they need to learn the benefits of hanging upside down, walking backwards for 10 minutes and half an hour on the wobblebelt. |

That reminds me of this time I was jogging around my neighborhood when I saw two ajumma's standing with their backs toward opposite sides of a tree. Very strange. Right when I figured they were having a Zen-like moment or something, they started banging against this poor tree with all their might.
Reminded me of bears when they need to relieve an itch. |
