I don't know which would be worse: kindy classes or never having enough sleep. I hope, hope, hope it doesn't come down to those two choices for me in a few weeks.

I've been working 14+ hour days for the last three years. Adults are where it's at if you can handle 'em.
And yes, it sounds like they are a lot like they were in China. |

Split shifts can be manageable, but yours is worse - that 12-1 shift will be a killer. Consider that you have to travel back and forth to home before and after each shift. Even if you live on top of the school, you have to go in for one hour at lunch. That means you don't have your daytime free, like most split-shifters. You have virtually no free time, because you can't go anywhere if you have to be at school at noon.
I would strongly urge you not to take this contract. If you have experience teaching in the Netherlands and you are willing to take split shifts in general, you should NOT accept a three-way split. There are plenty of eager jobs here. If the money isn't particulary great, I think you will regret this later.
Just my 2 cents. |

I've heard it put that they'll wear you out then go to the foreigner bin and get another puppy.
You never get used to working this way.You get resigned to it,and the sleep deprivation tightens more and more so the world feels unreal all the time.
Its evil. |

I did it for 2 years. It isn't really that bad. It's not bad if you are able to get in a 1 hour nap in the daytime. I was able to nap between the early morning shift and the next class. Then after that hit the gym after my afternoon class and then teach at night. It wasn't a problem at all. Sometimes, if tired, i'd grab a quick nap in the afternoon.
My advice is to do it, if you think you can handle it. Many people here just like to slag on split shifts even though they haven't done them before. I'd rather do the split shifts, than teach kids. It was worth it to me. |

| I agree with the people who sayeth it sucketh. I did it for one year and hated it like all get out. To me, the OP title is simply redundant. |
