For some of you veterans over here, what do you think of the idea of dating a Korean who doesn't speak much English. I generally care, but I think if the person seems to have some major chemistry with you, then it shouldn't matter as long as there is a willingness on both sides to learn each other's language. What do you think, since I haven't traversed that terrain.

Been there, done that. For short-term flings it's fine, but if you're serious about developing a long-term relationship, one of you should probably have a good grasp of the other's language.

Best part about it? You can't communicate well enough to argue or fight. Very Happy

Bad side? Playing charades and using dictionaries gets old after about 2 dates.

You nailed it though, if there's chemistry, you can both still have a great time .

Why not? There's a language every man and woman speaks, not to put too fine a point on it. And if both of you have ambition to learn the other's language, it could work out fine. Be careful that you're not being used for a free ESL lesson...

It soon gets tiresome if you can't have a proper conversation. Some grasp of English (and Korean on our part) is essential. The trick is to try and learn a lot of Korean from them.... and then, as your life in Korea progresses, keep on the lookout for better deals all the time.

Alternatively, one could just stay at home and have a w@nk. It's a lot cheaper!

So you're a user/scumbag as well as a moron then?

Yup.

By God, Satori, I'm a ranky stanky arsehole. But at least I can get girls my own age or older, which is more than can be said for a certain santimonious Kiwi tw*t who produces house music and lives in Japan that springs to mind.

Guys who date women and "keep an eye out for something better" are pure scum. Either be with someone or not. You are ripping women off emotionally, and contributing to the poor reputation male els teachers have in Korea. I'm totally not surprised though that this is your attitude. You personify shallowness in all other aspects of your personality as well...

You're an idiot if you think the women of the world aren't doing the same thing in nearly every relationship they're in.

People are almost always looking to upgrade. Those who aren't have either realized that they're already at the top of their game with their current partner, have lost the energy to continue the hunt, lost their appeal, and as a result are settling down for marriage.

Some say cynical, I say realistic.

Absolutely rot. Sorry if that's the case in your world. How we see the world reflects mainly how we see ourselves.

What world is that? The casual dating scene? Or the "I'm ready to get married and settle down" scene? Or maybe the "I'll take anything that I can get and hold onto it as long as I can because I never know when I'll get laid again" scene?

I grew up with a single/divorced (now happily remarried) mom and a twin sister. If you're implying I don't know the way women operate in the casual dating scene, you're sadly mistaken.

I've always got my eye on the exit sign, dude. No shame in my game. If your girl passes on stunners to be with a fronter, more power to you. You're doing something right.

But until you're ready to throw in the towel and bet the farm, never, ever lose your edge, my man.
