|

I'd rather bring a chick to Apgujeong or Gangnam rather Itaewon or Hongdae, but was wondering if you guys knew of any cheap places to catch a drink? Hongdae's got Gold Bar with awesome drink deals, and I know Itaewon's got Bricx with cheap shots and Geckos is alright, but does anyone know of any place (especially in Apgujeong) that has a bar along the same prices as the above bars mentioned?...or just somewhere to take a chick that won't break the wallet.
Much thanks... |

Are you really planning to have "a" drink or many drinks? If you are planning to only have one or two, take her to a nice place and drop some coin. Seems you're looking to get the young lady dickered if you're looking for cheap drinks, you cad. |

Going to a cheap place in Apgujeong is a little ghetto fabulous. It would be like picking her up in a BMW and having to walk halfway because you can't afford the gas to get there.
Yeah, Hongdae and Itaewon are known for cheap drinks, but what about a nice place in Jongno? Something in the middle might be your best bet. |

Geez people.... if you don't have any suggestions for the guy... give it a rest. I went to a place called Tombstone or something like that once... it's up one of the side streets in Gangnam.... it had good priced appetizer type foods and drinks. |

you mean Tomstone (yeah, that's how it's spelled)
the sh*thouse, which is nearby Tomstone, is practically the cheapest place to get drunk that I know in Korea because you can order soju without ordering any food. but if you're looking to impress a girl, it's not the place to go. it's like a soju tent. |

7mil impossible? Please wake up. Range of the last 8 months, 6.5 to 7.6. I only work 6 days a week. Just average 300,000 a day for 6 days and do the math over a month. Some days I only teach 6 hours. If you are prepared and you are a good teacher and people want you, you can name your price rather than turn down work. By the way, I'm leaving in December and I'm going to sell all my work to someone who wants to walk into a 7,000,000 won situation. PM with offers so I get an idea of what someone would be willing to pay. My schedule fits like a Korean condom. |

LOL... If you're taking home what is essentially $7,000 a month then how is a drink anywhere going to break the bank???
But anyway... Beer Pub is Gangnam is cool pricing but I personally wouldn't take a girl there... I've been to a 2nd Floor bar called Joy a few times with different chicks and that's just off the main street, near Mad Dog and NB... bottles start at 5,000W and cocktails at 7,000W, they'll generally throw a cocktail mixing display at some point in the night with varying success depending on which bartenders are there... first vist was excellent, second time was laughable...
Apgu isn't really cheap... if you want a good bar, then if I've taken a lot of chicks to S Bar. Great interiors and excellent music IMO... drinks are what most would consider expensive though, bottles starting at 10,000W and cocktails around the 14,000W mark... it's worth the money IMO and if you are taking home 7Mil per month then it's well within your price range... |

It's worth the money you say.. interesting
what exactly makes a bottle of Cass worth 10,000 won?
The fact you get to hang around a bunch of posers? Or maybe
the chance of seeing a b grade korean "talent"? |

I know a place right by the big church (but hard to find unless you know where it is....got to go in through a mark). All you can eat and drink for 10,000 won. Can't beat it. Lots of room to talk, airy, clean place.
That's as cheap as you'll get in Apgujeong. If you want to know exactly and the name, I'll sell you the info. for 50,000 won. PM me if interested. The real deal.

Ha great memory! yeah, my style is to save like a mo' fo' while I'm here so I can invest in other ventures back home. 200,000k nights out just ain't how I roll, even if I got 10 mil USD in the piggy... |

Unfortunately, a majority of ESL teachers flock to wherever cheap beer is on offer... become totally inebriated, talk some worthless nonsense, then try their luck with some Korean chick who doesn't speak a word of their language...
Sure, I'd rather pay less for a bottle of Cass... but unfortunately I'm left with two options and paying 10,000W for a Cass in a venue with a much more sophisticated and socially skilled crowd with prospects, rather than fine art or philosophy students who are unemployable back home, wins out each time...
And really, I've seen all of a couple of hours of TV in my 4 months here... I wouldn't recognise the most famous of Koreans, let alone any B-List celebrities... I simply spend my time at venues where I can enjoy myself more... |
