Wow, that storm turned on a dime. We are overdue for some heavy rain. I'm suprised how mild it's been so far. |

Crap!!
I guess I'll see if my neighbor can go close up all my windows. I don't want to come back from Alaska to find my house flooded. Hell, right now I don't want to come back from Alaska. |

I'm in the path, which is ragingly cool. I was in Busan for Ebie (sp?). However, it is decidedly UNCOOL for the farmers and fishermen, and people living in low-lying areas and on the beaches.
Hey, wait....I live in a port city.... On the 14th floor. Hope my windows hold... crap... might have to sleep in the bathroom....

Does Korea get hit with a lot of storms? I'm coming from Miami just before the peak of Hurricane season (got hit 3 times last year). Am I jumping out of the pot and into the fire? When is typhoon season?
Hoping to keep dry...

I'm no authority, so anyone correct me if I'm wrong, but generally typhoon season is from late June to late September. Korea has seen its share of deadly typhoons. I recall one in September, 2002 that was pretty devestating.
If your living in Seoul, there's not much to worry about, but if your in Busan or some of the other southern coastal cities, yea, then there's cause for concern. I agree with EFL-Trainer, might be cool to ride this one out. Always gotta feel for the farmers. |

Most of the storms ride the Japan Current and steer pretty clear of the ROK. Every few years or so, Korea gets hit full-on, but usually you just get some wind & rain from the outer edges of the storm.
I've never been to Miami, but from what I hear, the typhoon season in Korea is nothing like what you're used to. |

Are you thinking of Maemi over Chuseok 2003? |

Yea, it was definitely over Chuseok and it was a big one. I had a friend who had gone to Busan over the holiday and came back to Seoul, terrified! Getting my years confused! Must be gettin' old! Thanks! |
