and the referee for the World Cup final is...............Horacio Elizondo from Argentina. The man who allowed Frei's goal for Switzerland against Korea, and the man who sent off Rooney. Two controversial decisions but I believe he got them both right, and I'm English. Good for him I say, he obviously has a lot of integrity. A clear vindication for him and his decisions. Unless however the Koreans are right and he really is in the pay of Blatter, (but somehow I doubt it).

He's also the referee who failed to book any Portugese diving players, the referee who failed to award a penalty to England when a Potugese player handballed.
Plus he's Argentinian, therefore he is a cunt.

I thought the handball was ball-to-hand as opposed to hand-to-ball, so it can be argued no penalty.

Fair point about diving, although it happens very quickly and must be very very difficult to spot. I think if the referees don't see anything i.e they don't see a fuol and they don't see a deliberate dive either then they take no action.

And he's also the ref that let players decide make his decisions for him. He wasn't going to send off Rooney until Ronaldo came along and protested. Something clearly shown in the TV footage.
There haven't been many refs this year that have impressed me. There have been far too many mistakes.

I agree the standard of refereeing in this World Cup has been pretty poor. Especially in the early stages it was far too strict and players got yellow cards for almost nothing. But I think Elizondo has been an exeption.
Sure Ronaldo came up to protest about the foul and demand a red card but how do you know the ref hadn't made up his mind already? Do you have the ability to read his thought processes through the t.v screen? There was a delay between signalling a foul and showing the red card but he was just waiting for things to calm down.

The ref was making absolutely no moves to book Rooney, it can be seen in his eyes and how he reacts when the little c*nt Ronaldo starts whinging. He was totally swayed by protests.

That's funny, Zidane gets sent off even though the ref failed to see what happened. Unless you have seen what happened yourself, you cannot send off a player. Does that mean, he was swayed by other players for the second time?
If they were using video replays, it would be nice if they declared this introduction of technology.
