| Agreed. It's a real silly 'contest' in this area...who knows more, who has the better rig, etc... . |
I know what you mean but I haven't seen a lot of, 'who has the better rig?' threads.
I thought we pretty much agreed awhile back that Beaver has the best rig. But then, times move on.....and my rig is pretty sweet these days...... |

Ummm...
No contest... simply some advice for people who aren't computer literate enough to tamper with Windows Configurations... if you happen to fit that description then its a much safer and more efficient means of improving your Windows... in fact, it's a much more efficient way for anybody...
Do I really need to spoon-feed the information? Type 'Tweak XP' in Google and you'll be presented with a list of results... that is the purpose of Google! |

So, in what way do you call that "help"? You Google "Tweak WinXP" and that's enough for any given problem or tweak? Google it now and see all the outdated, incorrect and otherwise system-threatening information that comes up in the first page.
Those in the know about the good, bad and ugly of tweaks, as a service to others, should be more specific. I have hosed a few installs with tweaks and I would like to save others the grief...wouldn't you? Yeah....do some spoon-feeding. Why not?
If you can answer that last rhetorical question, then you have arrived at the point where you shouldn't frequent the tech forum. 99% of the posts here are about helping people, and if it's not your thing - if you don't want to give specific help - then just don't post at all.
Staxx...I don't mean to come down on you, but if you do know so much Kung Fu, then share it and help. I was recently asked not to be a jerk, and with good reason....it's just unproductive and for people in real need of help, it kind of salts the wound that is open from their frustration at the inability to solve the problem on their own. |

I googled it and the first result returned was www.tweakxp.com . I entered the site and on the side navigation bar was a header for XP Downloads, with the first subheading listed being their downloadable tweaking utility
I'll happily help people with specifics all day long... people could run hijackthis on their systems to give it a thorough sweep of spyware and adware, post their logs up here, and I'll tell them what they should and shouldn't remove to fully cleanse their system... I'll do that because it's an area of specific knowledge... but when it's something as trivial as typing XP Tweaks into google and checking out the first result, then hey, we're all capable adults here.. |

Well, what you said was that you knew programs that would do "most" of the tweaks in the link. However, a lot of those tweaks are in the BIOS. Does tweakxp go into your BIOS for you? |

I agree, but not all capable of the same things. Trivial to some, daunting to others. |
