I must say I am a bit out of touch with who the current "cool" groups for teenagers are. I have a student who is heading off to California for a homestay and his parents want him to have some practice free talking, etc. I would like to introduce him to some English music which he might very well hear in the states. The boy is 3rd year middle school (aged 15).
Any ideas on what is hip now? I feel so old..
Also, if anyone has good ideas for making free talking work let me know.

also 'hip' isn't so 'hip' now. Teach him words like 'gnarly', 'tip top' and 'wizzo!' |

Simple solution, go to the MTV website and find out what's cool.
More complex solution, find out what kind of music the student already likes, do a search on radio stations and tell him/her to listen to the webcasts of a soon to be local radio station.
If you're a technophebe just tell your student what to do, most kids that age are more than capable of accomplishing this task. |
