I've got a few ideas for Chuseok holiday floating around. I'm already on a waiting list for a flight from Busan to Bangkok for Saturday 30th September/Sunday 8th October just in case Thailand is the go-er.

My ideas are:

- Ko Tao - learn to dive (I understand this is the crossover time between low/wet and high/dry season, but the diving should be ok, even more so for a beginner such as myself). I found a link to this place in this forum http://www.nangyuan.com/ which looks the business!

- Phuket / Krabi - kayaking, snorkelling and/or maybe learning to dive (although the conditions might not be as good on the Andaman side at that time)

- Philippines - just for it's proximity, maybe this would be a viable option for learning to dive, haven't checked it out yet.

- China - I've already done a trip from Beijing to Hong Kong via Xian and the Yangtze, but could go with Shanghai, Suzhou, Yangshou, Hong Kong this time. Or I could even fly to Chengdu and head into Tibet for the week on the train.

What have you got planned? Which of the above would you go with? Just looking for some thoughts and recommendations in light of the fact that I'll need to get flights sorted asap! I'd like to stray away from the Starbucks/McDonalds/KFC resorts...! Ta

I'm thinking of travelling Manchuria, from Dalian through Shenyang, Changchun, and maybe to as far as Harbin by train. But the places I really want to go there I might have to get a car and/or local buses.

I've always been fascinated by this region.
