I just got to a school in Korea -- total newbie to this country. I've been quizzing my students on times and they JUST CAN'T TELL TIME! wtf? is telling time in Korean totally different?

in Czech, if it's 2:25, you'd say "in five minutes it will be half past 2", but Czechs can tell time in English just fine.

what's the deal?

Yeah, and teaching the telling of time is one of the easiest and most fun skills to teach elementary school aged kids, especially the earlier grades.

I just finished a month of mastering numbers talk, starting with two weeks of full lessons and followed by two weeks of 20-30 minute review practice exercise games.

I cannot imagine an easier subject to teach. But if you need tips about how to, then PM me, or even post the need whatever and I'll gladly detail how. (I'm walking out the door right now for a long weekend getaway)

Well what a great teaching opportunity. Time and numbers are two of the easiest things to teach, and they're very practical, too.

ha-ha. not a joke. they had a native speaker teacher last year. these are HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS.
