Hey, i did a quick search and i been doing a lot of reading on both of the topic of the seoul subway system as well as tourisim in seoul. Anyhoo, i got three questions

1) Is there any sort of monthly/weekly subway pass or something so i can save a few bucks? Or is it all just go up and pay for the distance travelled type of thing?

If there is one where do i get it? I think i read somewhere there was, but i cant find the link to it anymore

2) When i go and buy a ticket at the vending machine, i read somewhere your supposed to choose your "zone" your travelling to. I was wondering, all i saw was one button in the picture, so i assume i keep pressing it until my "zone" shows up on the lit screen. Is this screen only going to display korean, or will it display english as well?

3) Im in a bind with my airplane ticket and my camp that i will be teaching at. Basically I will only have weekends off to go and see seoul, and once i fly in i will be whisked away to my camp, and after camp i have to leave like right away. I was wondering how long would it take to see seoul?

One of my friends said about 3 days should do me good. Just wanted others opinon on how long it would take me to put in the basic sights of seoul.

Any insight and advice greatly appreciated!

get a subway card

You can charge them up and dont even have to take them out of your wallet to scan them

Their is a monthly pass that's good for 60 trips, but if your only here for a few days just pay as you go, the subway is really cheap.

Just goto the counter and show them where you want to go, the outer limits of your travel.

Seoul in 3 days is impossible unless yuor very selective. Here are things I would recommend you see. If your a health nut you go do part #1 in a day.

Start at Namsan Mountain and check the view that overlooks the city. You can see most of Southern Seoul. After that take a look at Numdemun market and make your way to Myeong dong these are great shopping areas. Not too far from their is City hall, Kyobo Bookstore and several palaces. Close to Kyobo is a river that runs all the way to Dondemeun Market. ect.... ect,.......

I think there is probably a week of stuff to do. Depending on how much of a hardcore tourist or shopper or museum person you are.
Namsan tower is a good suggestion.
I think the War Memorial (which is actually a museum) is worth visiting. It is a goodplace to get the history of Korea and the impact of the korean war onthe country.
There is a folk village in Suwon (I think) that is kind of ineresting if you want to see the way things used to be. I went and didn't understand much of what I saw, but I think it could be good if you could get a guide.
Namdaemun or Dongdaeun market is a must, but it can be very overwhelming especially on the weekends. I would sugest going on a weekday to avoid some of the crushing crowd.
