Funny, I remember meeting a guy from Ireland when I went for my visa run who signed on at 1.6 million and it was his second job in Korea! I was a bit shocked but I got the impression that it depends on what country you are from as far as your salary is concerned.

My first job in Korea was working at a Christian university for $1,000 USD a month...ended up being around 1.1 million and I thought that was okay...a bit rough to get by on, but I was just wanting to know if I liked the ESL gig and they were willing to pay me $ to try it out, plus room and board.

When my boyfriend came, he was offered a job for 1.6 and I urged him to take it, thinking it was a great deal...felt bad later to discover it wasn't.

My 2nd job popped me up to 2.0/month for 100 hours max.

My first job here was significantly less than that, but I was part-time, and it included 7 meals every week.
