I don't think I liked or approved of Ken Lay either.
I don't like corporate greed and corruption, or CEOs' salaries and bonus schedules.
But I just don't hate the man, and I don't think that there has been a single good reason presented here that might lead me to conclude that Lay staged his death, committed suicide, was assassinated, or anything else happened to him other than the heart attack the doctor who performed the preliminary autopsy cited. |

I know I said I wasn't going to discuss this anymore but when someone calls me an idiot for the wrong reason, I will respond. Call me an idiot when I am wrong and I have no problem with it.
Maybe he did die of a heart attack, it's also possible someone bribed the coroner.

Either you are part of the Lay family, his gay lover or so naive and have no understanding of the scope of his activities. What if it were you, your parents, your sister or brother, your aunt, uncle cousin or friend who lost their job, their retirement savings or investments. Would you still not hate him?
In my books, Lay is on the same scum sucking level as murders, rapists, or child molesters. I have absolutely no sympathy for him and even though I've never met him, I hate him for the pain and suffering he has caused thousands of people.
He personifies what is wrong with corporate greed and has total disregard for other human beings.
Before calling people idiots maybe you should take a long look in the mirror.

Good post, I agree with the sentiment and anger....
So many , so quick to bomb and kill poor civilians the world over but still willing to support and guffaw about a guy who continued to claim he was "innocent" and "penniless" while having lived high on the hog on the hopes of so many ordinary Joes and Janes...
Don't wish him dead but if this is the case, I am all for checking the coffin...........

Ken Lay is instantly cremated after an autopsy? Note that autopsies do NOT identify the person, only the casue of death

This means that there is no visible proof available that Ken Lay's body was, in fact, dead. You could perform a crematation of somthing else or simply fake the cremation in any number of ways -- and no one would ever know the difference!

1) His pastor, Steve Wende of Houston's First United Methodist Church in Houston, made the first announcement that Ken Lay had died of a heart attack -- but Lay was located in Colorado where he was said to have died. Why was the news broke by "a pastor" friend back in Houston and not a professional ER-unit in Colorado-?
2) Ken Lay was scheduled to be sentenced Oct. 23. This event would have made big headlines right around the time of the 2006 Election that might have been damaging to the GOP and to the White House. By faking his death, Ken Lay now escapes this convinction altogether and the GOP&Bush-den-of-theives now avoid the public embrassment of Lay, the good friend of Bush-Cheney, actually getting incarcerated right around Election day.
3) Lay, only 64 years old (just 4 years older than George W. Bush and the same age as Paul McCartney and Joe Lieberman), displayed no signs of ill health throughout the grueling four-month trial that started Jan. 30. He was consistently upbeat and smiling, holding hands with his wife, Linda, outside of court.

Internet Floats Lay Conspiracy Theories

HOUSTON - Ken Lay has taken his place alongside Elvis Presley in the pantheon of people whose deaths have not been fully believed. In Internet sites and blogs, conspiracy theorists and jokesters have floated the idea that the Enron founder's powerful friends helped him fake his death to escape sentencing in one of the biggest corporate frauds in U.S. history.
Some disbelievers are serious. Others are clearly having fun, such as the creator of a Web site that shows Lay's face inserted Where's Waldo-style into pictures from around the world � at the Eiffel Tower in Paris, the running of the bulls in Spain and as E.T. on a bike about to fly away from bad guys.
Others are trying to make a buck, such as the person selling T-shirts emblazoned with Lay's photo and the words, "Ken Lay lives," for $14.99 apiece online.
Lay's lawyer, Michael Ramsey, irritably dismissed all the Web talk after Lay's memorial service in Houston on Wednesday:
"When I read the garbage that's on the Internet, I'm reminded of the parable of the jackass kicking the dead lion. I think that's enough said."
Lay, 64, "died" of a "heart attack" July 5 while vacationing with his wife, Linda, in Aspen, Colo., more than four months before he was to be sentenced for fraud and conspiracy. A jury convicted Lay and former Enron chief executive Jeffrey Skilling on May 25 for lying to investors and employees about the financial health of the energy company before it collapsed in 2001.
At least two Web sites merrily eschew all evidence that Lay indeed died of heart disease � including a statement from the Colorado coroner who performed an autopsy. Helping to fuel the conspiracy theories was the Lay family's decision to cremate the body.
One conspiracy theory finds it a little too convenient that former Secretary of State Colin Powell was treated for altitude sickness at the same Aspen hospital where Lay was pronounced dead the day before. Powell was in the resort town to participate in a panel discussion, but the theory purports that he was actually there to bring Lay passports, other ID and an escape plan.
Lay joins a line of figures, from Adolf Hitler to Jim Morrison to Tupac Shakur, whose deaths some people had trouble accepting.
Steve Jones, head of the communications department at the University of Illinois at Chicago, said larger-than-life celebrities and even notorious felons can become larger still in the afterlife.
"Once they're gone, they're no longer in control of the stories we tell about them. Their telling of their own story stops, so we get to make things up. Sometimes it's downright fun to do that, and other times we're simply in disbelief," Jones said.
