It would be great if they went back to the roots of the Bond series. They should make it a lot more hardcore and edgy and do away with all the glittery special effects. Sean Connery in "From Russia with Love" was the epitomy of the great Bond film. I have to admit, I do question the choice of the new Bond. The Ian Fleming Bond was a 6 foot, 200 pound guy. A young Connery fit the profile perfectly. Apparently, this new guy is pretty small in stature and weight. As has been mentioned, there's also the hair. We'll see.

But you're impressed by Nancy Lang?

What are we supposed to expect from a redneck anyway?

He looked pretty buff in "Munich".

The trailer looks pretty good, I'm definately going to see it. I'm not much of a purist and so won't be upset that his hair is blonde. And yes, Die Another Day was comically bad. I haven't really enjoyed a bond film since Goldeneye. Hopefully though this movie will invigorate the franchise otherwise the Brocoli brothers could go down as the Joel Schumacher's of Bond.

Batman Begins was great except for Katie Holmes and I'm looking forward to Bale having a repeat performance. And you just can't go wrong with Morgan Freeman.

I'm sincerely sorry if I in any way offended your precious movie poster.

The poster cleverly makes Daniel Craig look as good as humanly possible, mainly by keeping him in the shadow.

A: He can't!

That sums up my thoughts on the matter.

Somebody with Photoshop skills should put Connery's head onto that poster.

What is a "freewalker"?

Just going on the poster and the success of Batman Begins, expect the genesis story revisited, lots of angst, and staring into the abyss as Bondy kills his first. (Probably a childhood friend)

Actually, the book is something like that. From what I've heard, the movie, too.

They've hinted that that is what they're planning to do. Apparently, the successes of The Bourne Identity and The Bourne Supremacy have had a lot of influence.

There's another site with some interesting essays.

Some examples:

Greg Haugen looks at the Casino Royale teaser artwork.

The Royale teaser poster is very stylish and very simple. If the chap in the tuxedo actually looked like James Bond it would be perfect...

Greg Haugen reviews the Casino Royale Teaser Trailer

Were it not for the Bond theme, you could be forgiven if you didn't notice that this teaser was supposed to promote a new James bond film. 007 himself seemed conspicuously absent from the trailer, and when we finally get a clear view of the new man, in tux at the gaming tables, he looks like he's been dropped from the sky and beaten with an ugly stick for a couple of hours.

Here is the trailer in question.
