I just got cable Internet (Hello Net) and, of course, it was set up by a Korean guy. I speak little Korean, so he set it up, motioned his hands as if to say "all set, kid" and I thanked him and he left.
I never had cable Internet before so I'm wondering, do I just leave the modem on all the time? Is there even an off switch (none that I can see short of unplugging it). Is it okay to just leave it blinking away 24/7? |

Leave it on.
Still wondering about the significance of mentioning the Korean guy. Forward thinking, I guess.

Someone who knows more than I do (which is not much) can correct me, but I suspect you'll want to make sure you have some sort of firewall. |

That's a good idea, but nothing to do with leaving the modem on. If the PC is off, nobody can get in. |
