I think I'm suffering from a form of 'delayed culture shock'.
My school district left negotiating a new contract until the last minute. Now, because of the late date, almost all round-trip flights home are overbooked during the time frame (Aug. 1-22) I have to go home and come back.
I can get flights for... hold your breath... W5,228,710 (and they'd be legally obligated to pay). However, I know they won't without a drag-out, knock-down fight involving the Labour Board.
How would you handle this K-generated dilemma?
P.S. I'm setting drunk tonight... self-medication is good for you... kimchee isn't. |

Contact several travel agents, ask for a price.
Book a ticket.
Wait for someone to cancel.
There's simply no way that you can't find a flight for less than 2 mil.
(I think) |

Thats right. Bomb all the agencies with requests (theres a good list in one of the stickies) & in a couple days some of them will get back to you with you wait-listed on various flights. Something will pan out shortly after. Expect layovers but under 2 mil.
When one comes through, let the others know! (It helps everyone.) |

Hi cruisemonkey. Where's "home"? Maybe I can find something lower for you. I have some relatives who are travel agents and might have some ideas. No promises, but I'd be glad to look and ask. I was able to book a last minute (4 days notice!) roundtrip ticket to the US not that long ago for under 2mil. |

I wonder how many people think they're in culture shock when they're really in EFL shock? Maybe it's just a shit industry and the only thing wrong with the cultures involved is their willingness to support it? Yes, I'm in a bad mood today ... |

You can always find a ticket home. Korean travel agents are the worst for always saying "It's peak season." They say that 365 days a year. It's so damn annoying. Wherever your home is, you will certainly be able to find something for under 2 million. Check the travel forum on this site and start calling some of the agents listed. Something will turn up. |

Have you thought about bypassing the Korean agents completely?
When I was looking into a flight to the US at Chuseok, I found going directly to the airlines sites (United/Northwest etc) and checking Expedia (both .com and co.uk) gave me much cheaper options than any of the Korean agents I tried.
In the end a flight booked via a British website was cheaper than anything else. Crazy but true. |

I just heard from my TA (Kangsan Travel) - I can get home and back for W1,780,100... that's a little more reasonable... in fact I consider it downright inexpensive. The head 'bean counter' for the school district will also be happy. |
