I'm currently throwing the idea around of becoming a full-time student of Korean, and would be switching my visa from E2 to D4. Is this possible without a visa run if I get all the proper documents? I'm going to be incredibly tight on money, and a trip to Japan is the last thing I need. |

I have no idea, but I have heard rumors that a C-3 can be changed to a D-4, and a D-4 can be changed to a D-2 without leaving the country. I'd love some more information myself... |

Might this bit from another thread help us?

They should be able to make a "Change in status of sojourn" without making a visa run. They are NOT obtaining a work visa. |
It sounds like this may have been what the people I heard about who didn't have to leave the country did. |

It seems that if you are not changing to a work visa, you can just do it as a change of status without leaving the country. It worked for me. |
