My previous webcam of 3 years - a Logitech - suddenly blacked out. It takes 'pictures' and 'videos' but they are all black. Is this a sign of webcam death?
Anyway, I've bought a new webcam - an Alphacam - but when I make videos with sound recording, the sound always plays back at double speed no matter what program I use to playback the video. There seems to be no setting on the software to suggest that I can modify sound recording speed. My only option seems to be recording an audio soundtrack independently of the video on a separate sound recording program (SoundMax). I never had such a problem with my Logitech webcam. What could be the problem?
If the darn rain stops tomorrow, I might venture out to Yongsan to get yet another webcam...Unless someone can come to my rescue... |

reinstall the drivers. YOu might also want to install the kazaalite codec pack from http://free-codecs.com and see if that helps. |

I already tried to reinstall. Thanks for the codec tip, though. I tried it but to no avail.
So...the rain stopped and I went and got ANOTHER webcam. I got another Logitech. Just W20,000 so not a big throwaway. I like the interface of Logitech and my sound recording is back to normal. Shame though, cus the picture quality of the Alphacam was much sharper than the Logitech - perhaps why the Alphacam produces HUGE file sizes compared to Logitech. The Logitechs have also increased in size and weight with no apparent improvement in picture quality since my first one more than 3 years ago. (Just adding this info for anyone about to buy a webcam.)
I'm planning to make videos with the webcam in my classes this week (lots of my students claim to want to be TV news announcers!) Has anyone made videos with students before? Did you have any special focus with the assignment? |
