What's it called when the Korean logic makes sense and the Western doesn't 
For example, why don't we have transit cards that work on the bus and the subway??? |

Laogaiguk, where you from?
"We" certainly do have transit cards that work on both the subway and the bus.
But you do make a valid point, there are some things in Korea that make more sense than how 'westerners' deal with things. For example, protecting your auto industry by imposing a 178% import tax on all imported vehicles. GM and Ford would be way better off if North America had the same. |

I've read on this board that they don't. I admit it is second hand info, but why would people lie about that???  I come from a smaller city where they still use a hole punch for a 20 ride card. I live in a small city south of Seoul, and I can use my T-money card here (on the bus, in a city smaller than mine back home in Canada) and use it in Seoul.
Another thing I think is great is how they pick up your plates after delivery. Who knows how much waste this cuts down on (and yes, I know it is wasting gas, but on a scooter not going very far, it's pretty inconsequential). Though they still use styrafoam for all those food stalls outside though.
There are things we can learn from Korea, and things Korea can learn from us. |

Canadian logic: I don't need a cellphone because it's just going to tie me down. I don't care if it also has a camera, tv, video game console, dictionary, map finding service, calculator, day planner, radio, mp3, etc., I can still get by with my good old phone at home. It's almost as good.
(at least 50% or so of my friends back home are this way) |

Hmm...
Believing anything an elder, doctor, or (Korean) teacher says, regardless of scientific facts to the contrary.
Walking onto the subway with a long line of people behind you, and instantly stopping as soon as you board.
Thinking that the usefulness of floss is a western myth.
Building quickly is more important than building well. (wrt to houses, offices, etc.)
Using the a/c in the summer is a dangerous idea because of the vast temperature difference between indoors and out, but sweating everyone out with the heater during the winter is totally safe.
Everyone needs a personal shopping assistant at clothing stores, even if the shopper doesn't understand at all what the assistant is saying. |

Funny, flossing as I read this (honestly, though I doubt you cared). I wouldn't want to piss of my dentist anyways. He's got me will torture equipment at his fingertips and I don't want to answer no when he asks if I have been flossing.

As opposed to my mother and sister going into Arbys and the two teenage girls are fighting. They wait five minutes (I told them they should have been more forceful or left) and the girl swears at them. The girls fight again, some hair pulling, the manager finally comes out and ignores my mother and sister and starts yelling at the girls. BTW, the girls are the cashiers. |

I agreed with some of your things, but not all. And screw you, if I made a thread making fun of American stupidity (or Canadian in my case), people would be defending it tooth and nail. Rant fests can sometimes be helpful, usually aren't helpful or detrimental and sometimes useless or detrimental. It's just good to give an opposing view, especially for the newbies who read here and are deciding on whether to come to Korea or not.
Second, blasting Homer would be ok, that guy would apologize for Korea if they put into place that law from Braveheart where the lord (ie mayor) of each city could sleep with everyone's new wife. But I created a thread about the stupidity of cable here earlier today. I am just offering a valid opposing point of view for this one. |

Ya I just think it's annoying when someone makes a list of personal opinions, and someone quotes them one by one to either validate or invalidate them. Blech. Ruins all the fun. What am I gonna do, go through and respond point by point to your opinions of my opinions? How lame!
