It's good.

The album streams at their site:

Hmmm, do I go to see them at The Docks in TO or La Tulipe in Montreal?
Decisions, decisions... |

So i've had a chance to listen to the album more than a half-dozen times or so, and have come to the following conclusions:
It's far far better than Green Day's American Idiot.
It's better than The Arcade Fire's recent album.
It's better than Dave Matthews Band's latest album.
Now I know some people are going to be offended by the following, but I feel it needs to be said:
IT'S BETTER THAN THE WHITE STRIPES' LATEST ALBUM.
and
IT'S BETTER THAN BEN FOLD'S LATEST ALBUM.
Yes, it's just that good. |

Is this really almost a year later? Or is my clunker pooping out?
Music advice is always welcome. I'm just feeling a time warp. |

Actually, I was offended by this:

Green Day and Dave Matthews are so pedestrian that I need to sit in a stroller just to think about them.
How does it compare to the latest Bon Jovi? |

Couldn't be arsed to read the rest of post, I see.
It's called building momentum.
You know how I know you're gay?
You like Bon Jovi- er, I mean- Coldplay. |

Turn that frown upside down!
It's a joke!
(Um, probably not funny unless you've seen The 40 yr. Old Virgin...) |

I thought the album was alright, but a bit college-y for me when I heard it.
That was after 2 nights of camping on a hot beach with a sunburn that started peeling the next day, weed, many Budweisers, a long road trip, fireworks shows, and greasy American sized portions of fast food. Come to think of it, I don't remember any of it, but my friend likes it, and I remember thinking they were cool.
Doesn't say much for my character either, but at least I can say I heard the album. |

weed, many Budweisers, |
People who show such poor judgement that they would spoil a good high by drinking beer cannot be trusted to pass judgement on music. |

Weed was for the drive down, beer was for the actual partying.
Trust me, I know how it works... |

I don't think the album is very good at all. There are a few listenable songs, but I listened to it twice about 8 months ago, revisited it today after seeing this thread, and I'll most likely never bother again. Just.. nothing that makes me want to hear it again. This really surprised me, because Neko Case's solo work is so spectacular.
However, it is probably more enjoyable than Green Day's and Dave Mathews Band's new albums... ... of course, so was my latest fart. |
