Is there anyone in Korea that listens to the Dave Matthews Band?

DMB conjures images of frat boys with cuffed khaki shorts, pink/green polo shirts, and fake old hats (American Eagle) that were distressed/torn before being put on the market who drive Eddie Bauer Ford SUV's that their parents bought as a high school graduation present.
Definitely not Korean ESLer material.

Green Day makes me think of the same people mentioned above with beat up/ distressed $165 Abercrombie jeans with holes in them instead of the khaki shorts.

The fact that you know the word "distressed" means you were once one of those guys. Come on. Admit it. Where are you hiding your letter jacket?

Nahhh actually DMB's first few albums were great, if for no other reason than Carter Buford's incredible drumming. The Recently EP, for example, had some wonderful displays of tenseness, crescendo, energy, passion. Before These Crowded Streets had a few good songs, especially Halloween, but the ones after it were so dull and boring. I used to be a DMB fan back around 2000, but certainly didn't live up to the frat boy image you portrayed. However, I did go to a concert once in Orlando, and I felt like I was at an American Eagle catalogue model reject convention.

My drop out buddies had a job distressing old furniture that their boss found left out on the curb for $7 an hour when they were 24. OK, some of them were college students who started school when they were about 22...

I'm in the know, seriously!

Anyway, I won't give you a hard time about that...I've had music I liked that would be considered...well...lame, but I won't bring any names up-

Peace be to you, annyonggi kay seyo and all that

I first saw DMB during their Crash tour ('96), in a concert hall with 500 max capacity (coincidentally, the same concert hall where I saw the Forgotten Rebels, the Fuzztones, and the Red Hot Chili Peppers a decade earlier). I've been a fan ever since, but I would also say that they haven't come close to recapturing the magic they had on that tour. Still, they've put out some fine albums and great shows. "The average DMB fan looks like... and drives a..." blah blah blah. Whatever. I haven't joined a fan club so have no idea what the 'average' DMB fan looks like.

Green Day. I never liked them before ('punk' as a retro/revival movement left me cold) but I did find American Idiot to be somewhat redeeming.

I don't know why I'm bothering to explain any of this, but since I am I might as well point out the obvious: all the bands/albums I listed in the op had recently put out albums when I wrote that post.

Having said my piece I'm going back to listening Sufjan Stevens' latest album.
