From the posts here (and from memory of my last visit) it seems that laptops are not good value in Korea. What about desktop PCs? Are they the same, cheaper or more expensive than prices in say the US or UK? I'll be coming back to Seoul next month for at least a year so it seems a better idea to buy a new entry level desktop PC for my apartment. In the UK I could pick up a PC suitable for all my needs for 279, here:

Could I get a similar deal in Korea and if so where? Thanks!

cheaper or the same. from xe.com your money is worth
Quote:
279.00 GBP
United Kingdom Pounds = 489,197.85 KRW
South Korea Won

Assuming you'll be in Seoul you can go to Yongsan and pickup a computer with a better processor, more ram and a bigger harddrive for the same price or less. It seems like you're happy with integrated sound and video so that will definitely keep prices down. I'm pretty sure you can get the same system specs (not dell) for around 350,000 won + monitor.

Monitors will cost from 40,000 (for 17" crt) to around 200,000 for a 17" LCD 300-330 for a 19" LCD.

Thanks for the replies. For those prices I might even splash out on a higher end system. Also, ideally I need a 2-port or 4-port video card so that I can run 2 or 3 monitors at the same time. Is that going to drastically increase the price?

actually you only need one video card to run dual monitors. my card is an older ATI 64mb and I run two monitors. Just be sure to buy the correct type of Card.

I edited my post before you replied but you answered the question anyway - it's not going to drastically increase the price. Thanks! Very Happy
