I leave for Canada tomorrow at 2pm in charge of a school trip. My school still doesn't have my new visa processed. We've made two pointless trips to immigration with incomplete or erroneous paperwork and my head of English assures me he can get the thing processed this afternoon, and meet me at the airport tomorrow with my updated visa and ARC. I just signed yet another new contract. If there's yet another problem today that leaves us several hours tomorrow morning. Today is the last day of school and everyone is running around the staff room doing who-knows what in bbali-bbali mode.

I'm a procrastinator myself but sometimes Korea makes even me go crazy.

ARGHHH!!!!

Sometimes it really seems as if crisis management is the preferred mode of operation here.

Hang in there Yum. I help my school recruit teachers (because I want to work with good and fun people that know what they are doing or at least want to learn what to do correctly). We have a wonderful young lady coming into S.K. in 11 days. They have yet to get her apt. squared away (this is with me HOUNDING THEM 24/7). We know the building; just don't have the apt. number. I remind these bobo's that she is coming in 11 days and, to them, it's as if she is coming in 2 years. lol. Laughing

I know the feeling, but luckily I will be back before my current visa expires.

Talking about last minute stuff, I rarely lose my temper, but today I was just about ready to explode. I alwasy like to end a semester with a fun activity. The activity is educational, but not too taxing, and there are prizes. However, this week, they cancel the majority of my lessons so the students can do fucking P.E or watch a movie!!!!!
Sad Grrrrrrrr

Sometimes, I wonder why I bother thinking up creative, interesting activities for the students.

This is THE one cultural trait I prepared myself for mentally before coming.

I told myself I will not expect them to change this, and to go with the flow.

I have had GREAT coworkers and director, though I would have thought less of them if I expected more than 2 minutes notice of schedule changes; last minute rushes and other effects of nonplanning are par for the course.

I feel for ya. We've all been there. Frustrating if you expect otherwise. Shake your head and laugh to release stress. And breathe!

Have a fun and safe trip. Why not drop by with the gang if you're in the area. Laughing I am 40 minutes north of Toronto.

Best,

K

Ha ha... we'll be in Vancouver. I don't know how many times I've explained that Canada is a BIG country and we don't have time to visit Toronto if we only have six days on the ground in Vancouver.

Okay, then drop by and give my regards to my brother. Laughing If you stop by Papa Joe's Pizza in Burnaby mention my name and you'll get a great deal. His pizza is yummy. (And it has no corn)

I have planned and paid for a trip back to Oz in Sept for a weeks now. Fiance meeting the family etc etc.
I just got told that my vacation has been moved from September to next week!
Impossible to take it any other time.
That would be the vacation cancelled then! Lucky we can get a full refund on the tickets. I am selfish because I complained.
You see, crappy things are not just limited to schools.
Enjoy your breaks guys!

So apparently a teacher sorted everything out and will meet me us at the airport with my updated passport and ARC. Apparently someone is coming to take me there. Sometime. I guess I'll just hang around the staff room until that happens. What a country.

Yu_Bum_suk, I hope all worked out for you!

I, myself, am sitting here waiting as patiently as possible for my school to actually send my application to Immigration. They've had it sitting on their desks for probably 3-4 weeks now. The keep making contract changes and now the director no longer wants to pay for food and according to the rep at the school, they're having "meetings" to decide what to do. Honestly, I don't care if they don't pay for my food, I just want them to hurry and put my application through the Immigration process so I can get my visa number BEFORE my contract start date. *sigh*
