My family in the US is friends with a family that's moving to Bundang in August. The parents are Korean, but the 3 kids (5, 6, and 8ys.) have been in the US so long their strongest language is English. These kids need help! Everyone expects them to be Korean, but they're not like other Korean kids at all. They're going to be feeling pretty bad about themselves when they realize how bad their Korean is. I want to help them keep feeling good about their English, at least.
Here's what I'm hoping to find:
1) English-speaking or bilingual playmates their age in Bundang.
2) A private tutor (yes, I know what's illegal and what's not...) to help them maintain and improve their English.
3) Advice on hagwons or other social/educational opportunities for overseas returnee kids.
A word about the type of tutor I'm looking for:
-someone reliable, energetic, and able to motivate
-race, nationality, educational background and age not an issue
-lots of experience and true teaching competence are a must
-someone legal to tutor would be ideal... I'll just assume you're somehow legal if you contact me, how's that...?
The parents: calm, considerate, down-to-earth, he's a lawyer, she's an artist, plenty of money to pay the right tutor, want a tutor who knows how to teach not just conversation but also reading/writing/spelling in a fun way
The kids: super sweet, polite, prone to asking intelligent questions, a joy to encounter after a day of dealing with hagwon monsters. The second child, especially, has an English reading level that's about 2 yrs higher than her chronological age. Very smart kids. The two older girls could be taught together, but the youngest (a boy) may need a separate tutoring session because he's not at the girls' level.
I'd tutor them myself, but I'm not near Bundang. Any advice would be welcome! Well, except for annoying or rude advice. I really don't need that. Please take this post in the spirit in which it was intended--a teacher who really cares about three fabulous kids, and wants help for them.
Thanks,
