Lostone7,
22nd is a great, because the rain season is generally over then, and perfect time for summer road trips.
You can contact me at
nin99ca at yahoo dot com
or 010 3143 6634
P.S. there are 2 helmets included, one for the ladies, plus there is a backrack, where you can store your scuba gear (I read some of your comments in other forums, its a hobby of yours I gather) after you unscrew the locking case which is attached. |

After having my translator phone and talk directly to the DMV (this is the second time, first time was face to face at the time of licencing) asking where on the website is the regulation regarding motorcycles.
It turns out that in order to drive any bike over 125cc requires the road test and the issuing of the permit on your Korean drivers licence. I was given the wrong information the first time by 3 agents (2 desk workers, 1 supervisor). Here is the actual regulation:
18. "원동기장치자전거"라 함은 다음 각 목의 어느 하나에 해당하는 차를 말한다.
가. 「자동차관리법」 제3조의 규정에 의한 이륜자동차 가운데 배기량 125시시 이 하의 이륜자동차
나. 배기량 50시시 미만(전기를 동력으로 하는 경우에는 정격출력 0.59킬로와트 미만)의 원동기를 단 차

To the other posters, I say you were correct. Next time I gather information from a government worker, I will ask for the regulation and the source. Alot of extra work, but clearly in this case, necessary.
The cost of the getting the permit is 9 000 (as told to me on the phone by a Korean speaking english). |

Testing in Daegu is on Tuesdays. Phone ahead to book an appointment. You need a Korean drivers licence first. Total cost (as the woman told me) is 9 000 won.
I am thinking about doing the test, and taking a video of the course. |

I took the course last year....its not that hard. I have ridden dirtbikes since i was 8....I looked at the course and thought, this isnt too bad. But when the 34 people that went before be ALL FAILED, I thought, ohh god.....maybe its a bit hard.
Nope....its pretty easy. I didnt set off the alarm once....u need good balance, but if you have been riding for awhile, you'll be fine.
Bring a camera cuz its pure comedy....some of the people before me actually fell off the bike, others couldnt figure out how to start it. Dunno what one dude was trying to do, but he almost pulled a wheelie!!! I was laughing non-stop.....Its fackin hilarious... |

Here's the info about getting a Korean motorcycle licence.
1. Get your Korean drivers licence (for cars). Most countries have an agreement with Korea which means you go there, pay a small fee, pass their visual test, and presto a Korean licence (with your home countries licence returned to you).
2. Go to your local Korean Drivers Licence agency at the appointed time.

Daegu info:
Road test is tuesdays. To sign up, arrive between 8:40am to 9:30. Actual testing begins at 10am. Single road tests are 4 000 won. Repeats cost the same.
Upon successful completion of the road test, a fee of 5 000 won will be required for a new licence to be issued to you. This licence will show your new status, as both car and large (above 125cc) motorcycle permissable.
