from what i've heard, it's got its pros and cons.

pros:

- above average pay. most of us ARE here for the money rite?

- structure. don't have to bother with making up materials. less prep in my opinion.

- big and flexible location. don't like the ppl? don't worry. 3 mos in, request a transfer and get the f*ck out of dodge.

- reliable. no worries about being shafted on pay.

I have to point out that I know of at least 5 instructors who were shafted on pay repeatedly.. but it was a below average branch of CDI.

- great training program. much different from the here's-a-book-go-teach-u-white-man-u mentality. even get a chance for improvement/advancement.

cons:

- endless meetings. not paid for either.

- cctv. it's the all-seeing eye of mordor, for some. depending on your level of paranoia.

- structure. gotta teach the materials they give ya. if you don't like the material, you're SOL.

- gotta like gyopos. cuz they're full of em.

- open 363 days a year. no such thing as a real vacation.

It would be best to tattoo this sentence somewhere painful so that you can remember it for all eternity. To me, this was the real killer. What's the point in coming to a country if you are only going to spend your time in the offices of some corporate structure like CDI. When you go home, you can tell your friends that you enjoyed your trip to CDI. Shocked

so it's goes both ways. gotta sacrifice some for the added benefits i say. but don't knock it til u try it.

I've tried it and I'm happy to knock it. Still there are many far worse schools out there than CDI. Just that CDI really isn't going to make you go home saying "Wow!" and that was the title of this thread right?

yeah, that vacation bit was the most horrendous of them all. i've never had to work a xmas and a new year's day in my life. i was on the verge of going postal.

and the pay thing, yeah, i've heard some incidents of ppl gettin shafted. but for myself personally, and 98% of the people i know, pay was on time, every penny accounted for. i've heard worse stories from worse places.

and yeah, i'd knock it too. but hey, i didn't start this thread. i'd say it's a good start for a fresh outta college guy with no exp teaching. training's good, lotta people the same age, and the cash is decent, if you don't blow it all on ur housing.

company work ethic and morale is a completely different story however.

Really? That doesn't sound too good. I'll have to take that into consideration.
